What can I do/buy to increase the security of my VonageVoip calls? We recently had a scare of someone eavesdropping on one of our calls. What do you guys recommend?

Well we had place a call to Mexico to a family member a week ago. My name was mention as well as my mothers during the convo. We were speaking about a certain amount of money and other matters. Somehow someone ended up calling them back a couple days later claiming that they had me hostage somewhere and wanted ransome money. They mention plenty things from that convo. As unusual as it sounds its true. We got details that the culprits were from my city of chicago but thats all. It kinda got me frighten about Vonage calls security. I heard about packet encryption, is there a way i could to that? what about firewalls?
Agreed again, but it hasn't yet been established that a cordless phone is involved. Another possibility is tapping into house wiring if it's in use, or simply listening on an extension if that's a possibility.
