I just received my Vonage set up and LOVE it. It's better than they say as far as I am concerned.
One glitch, however. I wanted to apply back up power to my Vonage system in case the power goes out. Here in South Florida that's a regular occurrence during the summer time. For this purpose I went out and purchased an APC Back-UPS ES 350 - a solid flat-style battery back up unit.
To my horror, I found that the power adapter supplied with my Vonage setup, the newer "orange glow" VDV21-VD doesn't "fit" the three prong outlet in the APC unit. The third pin, the ground one, simply won't go in. The same power adapter has no problem going into my APC Back-UPS CS 350, which, after some cabling schema changes, I am now using for said purpose.
See images of this at my regurgitated blog posting about this problem.
However, I did want to share this and find out if anyone has discovered the same thing. Maybe someone has a fix for this as I'd like to power my network router and Vonage router all off the same APC unit I specifically purchased for this purpose.

I don't have VDV21-VD so I can't say I've had the same issue, but you might be able to get around this by using something like a Power Strip Liberator.
These are basically short extension plugs designed to allow people to plug in more things with the larger transformers in to UPS and power strips.
Its not really addressing your question, but it might get you around the issue.
As I mentioned above, I haven't had your specific problem, but I do use the liberators for many electronic devices and they work quite well.
Its a bit of a crap shoot, but it might just be the $5 fix to your problem. |

It could be that the socket in the UPS is new and a bit too tight. Try plugging something else into a few time to loosen it up. |
