I have a Moto sbg-900 combo cable modem and wireless. My Vonage vt-2142 sits between the 900 and my pc. two laptops and a desktop with wireless card all see each other, the wired desktop is invisible. Without the 2142 the wired destop has an an ip of 192.168.0.4. and is seen in the network, with the 2142, the wired desktop has an ip of 192.168.15.2 and is no longer visible. I have read and reread forum entrys for a similar problem and cannot figure it out although it's probably something simple I have overlooked. thnx. |

The problem you are having is that you are using both the main router and the Vonage device as routers.
If you have the open connections plug your PC in to the main router and just use the vt-2142 as a phone device.
If you want to look up how to make both of these work, try this site:
http://vonage.nmhoy.net/tworouters.html
You would want to try option 3. Its a little complicated so if you have the extra ports, just plug everything in to the Moto modem/router and everything will be on the same LAN, will be able to see each other and will make for happy home networking goodness
Hope this helps. |

Since you only have one port on the sbg 900 and only two ports on the 2142 (1 Internet, 1 Ethernet), you need to buy a switch to make this work. Any cheap 10/100 ethernet switch will do. a couple of $10 switches The first one has free shipping, can't go wrong for $10.
Configure it like this:
SBG900 --- Switch --- PC and Vonage.
This will allow you to bring your Wired Desktop back into the same network as your wireless PC's alongside Vonage. Any DMZ settings that you might have used for Vonage will be preserved. |

Right. Nate Hoy's option 3 won't work with a VT2142. |
