Ok, from the technical help sticky...
Arthur, I didn't read this sticky because when I started I wasn't having technical problems (or didn't know I was).

The tests today are up to 11 lines... looks like everything is as it should be? If there are things I could/should be doing to improve, please let me know. I work from home and a high-quality phone connection is worth a little investment to me if there is something I can do to significantly increase my quality.

1. Your location - Austin, TX
2. Your ISP name and type (cable, DSL, wireless etc)
AT&T DSL Elite

3. Upload and download speeds
Rated speeds: 6 MBPS down, 768 Kbps up

4. Modem make and model
Speedstream 5100 (from AT&T)

5. Type of Vonage adapter used ie RT31P2 or PAP2
DLink VTA-VR

6. Setup of Network ie Modem---->Vonage Adapter-->PC
DSL Wall Plug -> DLink Di-524 Router-> Vonage Adapter -> Phone

7. Issue you are experiencing ie dropped calls, choppy audio etc
8. Run this Voip Test: After the test has fully completed, in the Advanced Tab, click on "View Text" in the lower right hand corner. Copy-N-Paste that data into your post.

It wasn't just aimed at you, Jason, and we have been getting posts that looked like harassment from the competition or other disgruntled "souls". People who were acting so awfully thick they couldn't even comply with the rules about posting their setup.... or were refusing to.

Still, we needed the part about your equipment which you failed or refused to provide so we could help you troubleshoot your problem. As tglea pointed out, you are not going to have Voip going on with that sort of reading.

Me? I'm going to start refusing to answer posts that will not comply with the forum rules as they are either from pranksters or individuals who are too immature to folllow rules, and therefore undeserving of the help of others.

And that is why I said all that.

To answer your initial question, 90 kbps of upload speed is required per line. From looking at your Voip test results, your internet connection is very good...Any issues you are having is NOT due to your ISP.

Are you currently having any issues with your Vonage phone service?

Thanks for the informative reply Darrell.

No, I'm not having any problems... the request for test information digressed from the original question about how many lines I could support. The first day I ran the test was the first day my DSL was on, so it appears it's normalized a bit since then to a more reliable connection.

Where did these readings come from? Some other post supplied the quote and the readings must have been filled in manually. This was not a simple copy-and-paste operation.

Seriously, what is your paranoia man? I am for real, a real person with a real question about Vonage that Darrell was kind enough to answer.

The results came from the link you provided me, which I'd never seen from before this. The reason they are 'quoted' was because I enclosed them in [ quote ] tags so that they'd be easier to read. You can try it yourself... enter the [ quote ] in a message and you can then Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V anything you like into the message and end it with [ /quote ]

I am sorry that I have gotten onto your nerves... but seriously, turn down the suspicion meter. This was a simple straightforward question with no malicious intent.

One should point out that this is a bare minimum. You are just barely out of the red on the speed ramp at that rate. And if you want it to sound like you are calling from next door you better BE next door.

The speed test can read my speeds pretty well if the simualted call is relatively close -- say Chicago or L.A., but choose Italy for a test and the speeds slump some. I imagine 90Kbps would tank somewhere in the red if one tried any sort of long-distance calling.

Nothing I posted above is HTML and the tags for quoting something are the same in every forum I've ever participated in.

I'm quite capable of comparing my results to my ISP's promised speeds... what I am not capable of knowing without asking is whether the speedtest you pointed me to typically matches ISPs' promised speeds or if it is consistently low... which is why my post asked if those results were sub par for the rated speed of my connection.

Are you sure that there actually have been pranksters or other 'disgruntled souls' posting here, or are they just people with honest questions who turn hostile by your inflammatory accusations and conspiracy theories?

Despite your earlier rude and accusatory posts, I tried responding with nothing but apologies. Seeing how apologies haven't worked to show you that I am sincerely just trying to get a question answered, I'm out of other ideas.
