Even thought the competition in the Voip market as increase and the value of the canadian money value as also increase, we didnt get any innovation on the calling plans offered or similar pricing as our american neighbours.
Our unlimited home plan is still at 40$ while american enjoyed a good rate of 24.99...dont you find it unfair??
In comparison, Primus Canada offered their unlimited plan at 30$ (canada only) which make Vonage 10$ overprice (since I dont need to call in USA other than 800 numbers)
His Vonage as any plan in bringing more incentive and innovation to their canadian clients? They came out with many international calling plans for US resident but nothing as change for their Canadian client.... |

Too high! It's getting very difficult to interest other people with Vonage now. Although I once read comments about the "offering that is still superior to what the competition offers", I still think that Vonage is missing a key point. We all understand that the Vonage offering includes "all" services but many potential clients don't care about "all" services. They want an affordable, reliable and easy to install phone service. Also, competition is growing larger every year and you now have several other big players like ACN. And one other important key factor: when most people change provider, it is for a fairly long amount of time. Therefore, any client choosing another provider won't be seen for a long time. Anyhow, the key point is that the current offering is too expensive. I think the sweet spot would be something like the Basic 500 for 14$/month and the Unlimited for 24$/month. |

Doesn't have to do with the dollar, it has to do with the amount of users. More customers there are then the lower it costs to do business.
I am only paying $31.99 a month for my Vonage, call them to see if you can get a better price. I have been using Vonage for over a year now. |

What I'm ticked about is the inability to offer any other means of payment BUT credit card. Why can't the bill be paid each month like the cable or any other utility - through the bank. Why only CC?
As for price why should we be prejudiced against because we're north of the 49th? I see Vonage as an American company screwing over those dopey Canadians yet one more time. We pay more for all American goods and services across the board. We're their little cash cow. Just stick it and money pours out. I, for one, am tired of it especially when the dollar is par or close to par.
Who is ANC? Is this yet another American company looking to get into the saddle and ride the insipid Canadian pony? |

I have been paying the US rate for almost a year now:
Calling Plan Information: Calling Plan: $24.99 Canadian Residential Premium Unlimited Plan Calling Plan Start Date: 11-Dec-2007
Check out the following on tips to reduce your monthly rate: http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic22094.html |

I have been paying the $24.99 since April, 2008 after reading about others getting the lower price.
Now that the dollar is way down again, we are getting a better deal then the Americans! Plus we don't pay all the xtra stuff they pay. |

Well, thanks to this forum I realised that it may be a good idea to ask if a price reduction was available. I mentioned that I was aware that some people were receiving the unlimited plan for either $31.99 or even $24.99. Much to my amazement, after consulting his supervisor, he came back with $24.99 after the first month. My only concern is that I cannot find any reference to this on the account!! However it was recorded in their final "lets check and record what we have agreed to" session. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it will work out. |

I'm in Canada but I've been using the same USA Basic 500 Plan from when I was living south of the border. (I know E911 doesn't work) Vonage USA just announced they are raising that plan's rate to $17.99/month. With the current exchange rate, that would put me paying more than the Vonage Canada 500 Plan at $19.99.
Anyone think that or know if Vonage Canada is also going to raise their basic rate plan? I think if I stay with the Basic 500 plan, now would be the time to make the switch to the Canadian plan. Still doesn't make sense though with the Unlimited plan unless I can get the $24.99 CAD rate.
What is the actual bill however after all the "extras" are tacked on if I do not exceed my monthly minutes? |
