2 things... I want this phone... http://www.von-phone.com/keyspan_cordless_skype_phone.php
(1) - Will this work with Vonage SoftPhone? Because It says you must have a Skype Account for that cordless one, and other cordless phones it says you dont have to have a Skype Account.
(2) - I would prefer the V-Phone over the SoftPhone, BUT I want to have a Cordless Voip Phone to go with it. So, Can I use the phone in that above link? If not that phone, Is there something else I can use that is similer?
I REALLY want the V-phone with a cordless phone!!
Thanks Ahead of time! |

Looks like I got my answer from customer support via e-mail....
I understand that you would like to know about the Soft phone and V-phone and regardig the link you have advertised in the Forum.
The cordless Skype phone mentioned in the link given in the forum is not compatible with Vonage. Vonage has its own Vonage software for a Soft phone. You need to install it on your computer to use the Soft phone. You should have a primary line in order to use a Soft phone. Please visit the link below for more information about Soft phone:
http://www.vonage.com/features.php?feature=softphone&refer_id=WEBIN0706010001W1
Regarding V-phone, you need to connect this V-phone to the USB port on your computer. You need to use the headset provided by the V-phone to communicate with the callers. You cannot use the cordless phones with V-phones. You can also use a Bluetooth headset with V-phone.

If you would like to use cordless phones with Vonage, you can purchase a regulate phone adapter and use a cordless phone system. You need to connect the base cordless phone system to the phone port of the Vonage adapter.
If you would like to have a separate account, you can either purchase the phone adapter from the retail store or you can visit our website (www.vonage.com) and subscribed for our service. You can choose any of the adapters mentioned in the website. Please visit the below link if you would like to know the start up costs for subscribing a new account:

Skype phones will not work with Vonage, as skype uses different software technology than standard Voip phones - that phone won't work.
The Vonage softphone uses SIP, and "unofficially" you can get standard SIP phones to work with Vonage. Vonage doesn't support using non-vonage phones, but it's doable if you know how to set it up.
To use the v-phone wirelessly, you could look into a long range bluetooth headset like the Sennheiser BW900. Otherwise you'd need to setup softphone with either a wifi SIP handset or a SIP deskphone with a DECT handset. Wifi is nice since you don't need a base station, but they are often finicky to setup on unfamiliar netwoks (see below wifi Voip phone). DECT (this is normal cordless phone frequency) works by setting up SIP base station connecting to Vonage, and use a handset to connect like a normal cordless phone (see below sip/dect Voip phone).

OKAY, I understand that I cannot use the V-Phone cordless unless I get a bluetooh head set. And that not what I want, I want something that looks like a cell phone. RIGHT?... Yes, OKay...
So say I just stick with the SoftPhone... Here is another question, Is X-Lite the same as X-Pro? Because I see that Vonage uses X-PRO, and the symbol is the same as X-LITE, therefore leading me to belive that I can get a USB Cord phone that is compatible with X-Lite. here is a link that says... Yealink USB phones work with Vonage, using the X-Lite softphone.
http://www.von-phone.com/vonage-usb-phones.php (it also says this on the above link... To use these phones with Vonage and X-Lite, download and install driver for Windows: X-TenMate zip version 1.0.0.35, 4/22/07 ...So I will do that).
SO, when I look for Yealink phones they should all work with the Vonage SoftPhone, As Long as they're compatible with X-LITE which shows this symbol....
....Here is an example of a phone that has that symbol...
http://www.von-phone.com/yealink_p8d_skype_phone.php
So am I safe to say that I can Buy that phone and it WILL work with Vonage SoftPhone |

I've used both the Vonage softphone client and x-lite - they are basically the same except i think x-lite is a little better (more configurable).
That phone you linked to should work - it will work basically as a headset/mic with dialpad for x-lite, so you'll need to keep your computer on and x-lite logged in for it to work. some of the other wifi phones don't require the computer to work. |

Okay thank you! So what your saying is that any phone that is compatible with...
X-Lite ...should work right?
Do you guys think that the Vonage WI-FI WIRELESS PHONE UTSTARCOM F1000 Voip WIFI * would work with my situation?

SgtDome:
If you are using the Vonage Softphone with the X-Ten software that means that you also have a 'regular' Vonage line as well (as Vonage will only sell their Softphone as an addon).
This looks like what I used to have ('regular' Vonage line with a Linksys router & Vonage Softphone using Cyberphone-K USB handset).
Last May I changed the Vonage Softphone to a V-Phone - - the V-phone was only $2 more per month than the Softphone with virtually the same calling plan - when I'm travelling I use the V-Phone with my laptop - while the Cyberphone-K USB handset was usable with the V-Phone, the V-Phone didn't support the handsets extended features (with the X-Ten software I could dial & answer directly from the handset but with the V-Phone I need to dial & answer from the VonageTalk software ... given that my laptop only has 2 USB ports using the 2nd one for the handset wan't worth it) - when I am home I 'move' the V-Phone's # to the 2nd phone port on my Linksys router and I have my home office handset (as well as a cordless handset) which means I don't need to be anywhere near my PC to use it (from the Vonage web site it under a minute to 'move' a line between Vonage devices, only a couple of minutes for it to take effect & you can do it as opten as you want).
The only drawback is that I've found a high failure rate with the V-Phone and Vonage Tech Support admits that - I've had 3 fail since last May & it generally takes Vonage a month to replace it (so I now have 2 V-Phones so I have a spare when one fails).
Hope this helps.
