Hello

1. Nashville TN
2. Using Comcast
3. 1MB upload 6MHB download
4. Comcast RCA modem
5. DLink VTA Device
6. Network - RCA Comcast->Dlink DIR655->DLink VTA Device

Many issues since buying this router...

1) When anyone is playing WoW and we get a phone call both the call do not come through and everyone gets booted from WoW

2) Sometimes the call just won't be there when we answer

3) Sometimes when calling our number it just rings

4) sometimes when dialing out ... the call never does ring for us

what have I tried ?

Under port forwarding I have opened all UDP ports on a static LAN IP I gave the Dlink VTA Device

I have put the Vonage device in the DMZ zone to eliminate Firewall issues

havent messed with QOS yet but thats mainly because I haven't figured it out yet.

Since putting it on a Static IP at times when getting a call or making a call it seems to knock all of our computers offline

I am think this is obviously a problem between the new Dlink router I have and the Vonage device. I never had these kinds of problems when I had my older linksys.

Any heck the router works fine for everything else but this. I am pretty close to going with Comcast digital atm but would really hate to cancel my Vonage after 2 years.

anyone have any ideas ?

This jobbie only has the one Internet port and two phone lines out.
You can plug a WAN feed into it or you can feed it from an Ethernet port on a router, but not feed anything networky out of it.

When I dumped Comcast -- bought out by TWC here in the Dallas area by then -- and went with Verizon FIOS the tech brought out an Actiontec as router. I told him I already had my Linksys and he just shook his head. "This one's better." Not for nothing does Verizon want $140 to replace it when the warranty is over. It works beautifully. Mine is the MI424WR. You might want to check out their products here:

You get what you pay for with gateways/routers, apparently.

Now I just use my old Linksys for a switch to add more Ethernet ports to my Actiontec and for that it works fine. Even can plug Voip devices into it as long as my Actiontec is in the driver's seat upstream and handling all traffic, QoS, etc. I just wonder how many problems that people come here to try to get fixed would be solved by just breaking down and getting a good router instead of some el cheapo....

Not sure if yours falls into this category, just thinking out loud here....

Try doing this:

1. Make sure that the firmware on the DIR655 is updated.
2. Remove any of the settings you previuously tried (static IP, port forwarding, DMZ, etc).
3. In the router setup page (Advanced -> Firewall), disable Application Layer Gateway for SIP. You probablly want to turn all of them off while you are here.
4. Retest.

yeah I have the latest firmware.

I will try disabling SIP.

Perhaps I might try a new Vonage device and stick in line after the modem perhaps.

well I have tried just about everything. Now when I set the Vonage device to a static IP it works even worse than it did when it was on the DHCP.

Would be nice if Vonage posted a recommended equipment list. Cause my research has shown with the newer routers that are out now Vonage seems to be hit and miss with them.

I'm not sure why your having any issues at all. This router is fantastic.
