My RTP300 has been working fine connected to a router. But I've moved and the router I now have only has one ethernet port. When I connect my RTP300 to the cable modem it doesn't pick up internet or have phone service.
But when I connect the router to the cable modem the router works just fine for distributing internet. Alas, it has just one ethernet port so I can't send internet from the router to the RTP300.
Any ideas on why this is happening? |

Please post the technical details listed in the sticky message at the top of the forum- particularly the details of your network. What one port router is it? What modem and service? Are you connecting the RTP300 to the modem using its WAN port? Have you checked the cable?
For what it's worth, you should be able to plug the RTP300 into the one port available on your router, and then plug your computers into the RTP300. Is that not an option for some reason? |

I listed all that information in my original post. |

Whenever you change the device connected directly to a cable modem you have to reboot the cable modem or it won't recognize the new device. Did you try that when you swapped in the Vonage device in place of the router?
And by the way, what do you mean you router only has one Ethernet port? Makes it not much of a router, I think... |

Thanks,
I had rebooted the modem, but I'm now thinking I might not have given enough time for the Vonage router to do it's thing.... it seemed as if the green internet light was flashing forever. I'll try rebooting the whole system (in proper order) again and give the RTP300 some time to digest it's new home... see if that works.
As for the wireless router, it's an Airport Express. The size of a pack of cards, streams music wirelessly, prints wirelessly, and when I travel it fits in my pocket. It's a fabulous wireless router |

Try logging into the RTP300 and see status on the webpage. If you don't know, reset the RTP300 using reset button. |
