Hi, i just want to say ive been using Vonage for a year and a half, Minus some problems id say my expecrince was with it is good (im located in the states BTW).
I just have a few questions that id like to have answered so if anyone here could answer them that would me much appreicated.
1st. Being that im in the states when i move to canada can i bring my Vonage device with me, set it up, and continue using the service with no problems with my US account??
2nd. Also im currently thinking of buying my self the Linksys Vonage wireless router, is it one a good device? Second, how do i get it to work do i need to call Vonage activate the device? and will it work with my service if i buy it used?
3rd. Does Vonage CA also have year plans like Vonage US? how much? and what about virtual lines? and would you suggest i keep my US Vonage account and add virtual lines as needed? or go for a Vonage CA account? Or do you think it be cheaper and/or better quality if i cancel Vonage all togeather and use rogers or telus?
and 4th Does anyone ever hear other people talk or other noise when using Vonage? what about calls that never go through to where you called including using call forwarding?
which of these to routers is better? Router1
Router2
Router3
also from what ive read should i just stay away from these routers and buy a regular wirless router? (if i wanna use DNS settings?)(and save myself money and pain?) Any suggestions?
Thank you for your help! -lazy |

a few answers.
1) I personally have two adapters. One subscribed in Canada. One subscibed in USA. I just maintain my US address and the account and use it also when travelling. 2) Not certain as there are a few Linksys devices I believe. The rtp300 is good, solid,... but I think my motorola adapter is slightly better. Although I don't really have any complaints 3) Have no idea on yearly plans. Virtual numbers are available. I probably would have kept just a US adapter but I didn't want my US number showing exclusively on my outgoing calls. Since I have kids I wasn't against another line anyway so I have the unlimited plan on the US and the 500 minute plan on the Canadian. I haven't missed Telus, and the quality has exceeded expectations. 4) Haven't had noise issues for several years now.
Personally, I like my routers separate from my adapter. I do use my adapters portability, and it's nice to be able to still use the rest of the network by having the adapters strickly as clients |
