Hello, hope someone can provide me with an insight on what to do next with this problem. I have had Vonage service and everything was almost perfect until two weeks ago when I started having the following two problems with my Vonage service:
- When someone calls, I have to say "Hallo" as least 3-4 times before other party can hear me
- After few minutes of conversation other party can't hear what I say and that interruption can last from few seconds to even a minute (weird) so often I have to hang up and try the call again.

Here is some basic info about this particular service:
- Service provided by Comcast in MD

- Comcast's Motorola router: Motorola Sufboard SB5120

- Vonage's Linksys Wireless Router/Phone Adapter (one device): Model: WRTP54G

- called Vonage customer service and they set the bandwith setter to 'highest quality' and maybe they did something else that I am not aware (that did not fix the problem).

Please let me know what you think my nest step is ... I hope someone could help with this issue. Thanks a lot.

Ran the bandwidth test and got the following results:

Your test results are awful- high download pause and very high (100%) packet loss server to you. Remove the Vonage device and repeat the test. If you still get bad results, then you have an issue to take up with your ISP.

Also, be sure that you're not using a 2.4 GHz cordless phone. They don't play nice with wireless routers.

Indeed it is strange, but there are a couple of things that may happen here. When you remove the Vonage device, you may get good test results, making us suspect that the Vonage device has gone bad. It happens. Then we'll put the Vonage device back in and check again. The bad results may not repeat. That happens too.

I would suggest to you to try alternate test sites for comparative reasons. Lately, when I've run the Voip speed test on this site, I've been seeing the 100% packet loss that you eluded to in your test result. This would lead me to believe the results are not 100% correct...my phone quality is excellent by the way.

Hmm... Since it worked perfectly fine for last two years, I would suspect that your device probably got a new firmware and that changes things.

I would also try disabling the wireless on the router and see if that helps.

Talked to Vonage tech support and we went through various tests. He indicated that my Cable Modem model is known to have audio issues. He switched me to Line 2 on the Lynksys Router/Phone Adapter and now things seems to be better. Had few calls and don't have that issue anymore - probably too early to celebrate though Very Happy

Also, called Comcast who said that everything seems to be fine with my connection (through some remote test - no packet lost). However, I read that story about Comcast intentionally making packet delays (don't know if true or if they can make that happen to individual customers only).

We'll see - things are better now and lets hope it will stay that way. Thanks for everyones help.

Switching to Line2 can not fix the modem-issues.
I suspect that your line-1 probably went bad, the modem may must have been fine.
