Has anyone on this forum used Vonage service using their adapter in India on BSNL.

Anything special need to be done to make it work in India like opening voice ports etc etc?

My parents don't have a computer at home I was told that they can simply hook the adapter in DSL line and it is ready to go. Is that correct?

Thank You
Suman

No,
They will have to set up pppoe and put in the username and password.

See http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic21388.html and http://infonial.blogspot.com/2007/06/setting-up-vonage-in-india.html

Ed56,

Thank You this is very helpful. Do you know if Vonage Adapter purchased in USA through Vonage will work in India on 220 V power supply?

Thank You

I sent the vportal to my parents in India. I configured the ppoe username and password in the vportal in usa before sending the unit to india. While setting up my father got the error saying invalid username and password.

Does anyone know if I he needs to give username@domain example

sumang24@dataone.in or just sumang24 for BSNL username?

I save only the username but i didn't include the domain name. Please suggest what should he do?

Thank You
Suman

An old post http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic6623.html advises the following:

try with both
<userid>@dataone.in

or

<userid>@dataone

Let the forum know if one of these works
