I am with Comcast, cable
Download speed 20159 kbs/sec upload speed 2534 kb/sec
Modem Motorola surfboard 5120
Vonage adapter motorola VT2142-VD
Setup is Modem--->Zyxel Router x-550---->Vonage adapter---->PC
issue choppy audio

I would like to give my Vonage the priority over all other devices. Lots of times I'll call and people can't hear me. I think its because of heavy upload/download during those times.

Is there a way my upload/download wont effect the phone/audio quality.

Either set QoS in the router to favor the Vonage box (if it has that capability) or put the Vonage box ahead of the router. The former is the better solution, if the router has good QoS capability.

I believe my router has the QoS. I think its called Stream Engine.

But I am not sure of the setting to plug in.
What is the port number for Vonage device?

I don't know that device specifically, but If you can find out how to set up QoS these are the ports that that will need high priority 5060-5061 upd and 10000-20000 udp. These are the ports used for voice traffic both locally (within your LAN) and the ports Vonage servers send/receive it.

Normally, with setting up QoS, you need to tell the router your normal upload speed, then either give it a MAC Address, an IP address, or ports to give the high priority (or low priority what ever the case may be) to. It will then take low and "undetermined" traffic and slow it (or discard it in some cases) to allow the high priority traffic to get through.

So if you give high priority to the ports above, any time there is other traffic on your LAN (surfing, P2P, etc) will be slowed to allow the traffic using those port to pass. In this case all traffic other than that on the ports above will be undetermined and given low priority.
