Hi all,

need some help with getting my remote management to work on wpn824. here's my setup:

cable modem->vonage router vt2442->netgear wpn824

i have remote management enabled on the wpn824 and the address is 192.168.15.2:8080 (vonage router ip's is 192.168.15.1)

i can access the wpn824 locally with it's lan ip but not outside of my lan. i have a static assigned ip with my isp.

Do you have port forwarding set up for port 8080 on the vt2442?

yes it's set up but i'm not sure if it's correct. here's the settings in the vt2442.

advanced->port forwarding->category->user = i created a rule 'netgearouter' with tcp/udp port from 8080-8080 with the server ip as 192.168.15.2

The only thing I can think of is that you ae acquiring an IP address or your for your net gear router via DHCP from the Vonage 2442.

When I had it set up that way, my Vonage 2142 would sometimes assign the ip to 192.168.15.3 rather than 192.168.15.2, which would screw up my port forwarding.

Check your status on the netgear routerand see what it is connected as (192.168.15.2 or 192.168.15.3)

My solution was to assign an static IP to my router (192.168.15.2), set DNS and gateway to 192.168.15.1.
