It's strange that you mentioned the WRT54G and this problem. I bought the same router to FIX my problem and it seems to have worked. I put the Vonage adapter after the router and it has been problem free for 3 days now.
I called Vonage tech support 2 more times. First time they gave me new DNS numbers. Second time they said it was a latency/QoS problem with my ISP. I called Charter and they said all was good after running some tests. |

Yeah the router works well for about 5 days and then the reset is needed. I also have the dd-wrt installed on the router instead of the linksys firmware. I can't access the Vonage adapter. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I put the assigned IP for the V-portal into a browser and it says page cannot load. Suggestions? Once I can get into that page, I plan on cloning my router's mac and see if that helps any. |

I don't have the dd-wrt firmware installed. I have v.8 router and as far as I know there are no 3rd party firmwares for it.
I can't get to the Vonage setup screen either after installing the wrt54g. I have only tried a couple times and haven't researched it fully yet. |

if you have another router and then are putting the Vonage device behind it, then just put a static IP on the Vonage device and DMZ it in the first router. That should solve you release issues. If you are losing internet PC and not just dialtone on the Vonage device and your PC is connected to the first router then the issue is ISP related |

Try connecting your PC directly to the V-portal and "put the assigned IP for the V-portal into a browser "
Otherwise, perhaps you can find the IP assigned to the V-portal in the DHCP Active IP Table (DHCP Clients Table) and use that ip addy to access the V-portal. [edited]--> but thinking about that, since that is on the WAN side, you would probably have to turn on remote web access to the V-portal . |
