I got a new WRT54GS router that I planned to use in front of the vt1005 adapter b/c of the QOS features. Well, that was a disaster, as the Vonage kept kicking my internet off no matter what I tried re: port forwarding, DMZ, QOS, etc.

So I finally broke down and did what Vonage wants and put my vt1005 in front of the router. Looks like things are ok. Speeds are down a bit, I haven't figured out my port forwarding for utorrent yet.....but the BIG problem is that whenever I'm on a call my computer slows to a crawl.

The biggest problem I see is with my mouse. Very choppy control, very slow response. I was on a call and managed to run a speed test on my browser and the speeds were fine...so why is the Vonage call slowing down my actual PC and not the internet?

Start Task Manager, sort processes by either CPU or memory while on the phone. This may give a hint.

yeah i tried that. nothing popped to the top when i got on the phone.

i've been screwing with Vonage and various problems for 4 years. the only reason i dont dump it completely is b/c i now have business cards with my TX number and i like in CA so i like having that local number.

i'm going to start looking at other options because i spend WAY too much time screwing with Vonage.

Be sure you have processes from "all Users" checked. Tha expands the process list.

Had a thought . . . . If you use a wireless mouse, some wireless mice (raido vs. IR) operate on 2.4ghz.

Did a web search and found this comment on a forum:

"i've had about 5 different logitechs that have been 2.4ghz, and all of them were affected by wifi. i changed the channel on my router, and it helped, but sometimes i still get stuttering or lag, or the buttons wont click."

Go figure!

What may appear to be a computer slowdown may be the mouse radio signal being interrupted. That could be if your phone is 2.4 ghz, hence causing the interference, notthe wifi . . or the combination.

good catch ed56. I agree. there is no reason for your mouse operation to be slowing down b/c of Vonage. they are separate issues and if you are indeed using a wireless anything, then there is your problem. make sure they are not all on the same frequency.
