Post subject: No 'line in use' with ATT954 phones?
After converting, my ATT 954 phones will not show which line is in use on my 4 line phones. At first I thought this might be just a minor inconvenience, but now whenever someone is on line 1, for example, and someone else goes to make a call, they are able to pick up the same line, breaking into the conversation. If the 'line in use' LED was lit, we could determine which line was in use and physically choose the next line when making a call.
Does anyone know of a way I can program my phones to use the next available line when making a call instead of the first line, or do I need to shopping for new phones? If so, any recommendations for 4 lines phones that allow the use of features with IP telephony?
I should add that this worked prior to switching.

I don't know about programming the phones, but to address the light issue, check the polarity of the voltage on your lines. If you're using home (building) wiring, it's easy to get polarity reversed, and that may cause the lights to malfunction.

So, after doing some searching on this site for 'reverse polarity', I came up with a few things to try, with no luck. First, I tried putting a dsl filter in line straight out of my Motorola VT2142s ( I have two), no luck. Then I checked polarity, and sure enough, it was reversed. So I switched the wires so tip and ring show the correct voltage (+48v). This didn't work either. I should add that this is a commercial building, and my config goes like this:
DSLRouter---> 3com Superstack 24 port switch--->Vonage Motorola 2142---> 66Block---> ATT 954 Phones (5 of them). All the phones ring correctly and the line in use indicators work on the phone that is handling the call, but not on the others. If the ATT phones are incompatable with
Vonage
, does anyone know of a 4 line phone that will allow the features to work ( line indicators, transfer, intercom, etc)?
Any help would be tremendous!
Matt

Your
Voip
test looks fine. That's not surprising, since your phone service seems to be all right except for the light issue. Unfortunately, polarity is the only idea I have on that, and fixing it didn't solve the problem.
