I have notiiced that the call activity logs on the dashboard no longer show missed calls. I don't use voice mail. I am a business with 8 lines. This is very annoying. It has been going on for about 3 weeks or more. I emailed Vonage about it today. I would have thought they would have automatiically fixed such a problem. Am I the only one having this problem? |

I can't recall ever seeing missed calls displayed on the dashboard. If the caller stays on the line long enough for my home answering machine to pick up, and then immediately hangs up without leaving a message, the dashboard shows that. That's because it's a completed call as far as Vonage is concerned. But if a caller hangs up before I answer or the answering machine answers, then it doesn't show up and never has. |

No, it always has. For our purposes we leave the lines unanswered when we are not around. We do not put a voicemail or anything on the line it has been this way forever. We would always know how many people called or who called (missed calls) and then maybe call them back. |

I have never seen a missed call on the activity page, how can that be? If it were there then you would be charged for a call you never answered or sent to voice mail. |

Hi, Yes the call activity always displayed missed calls, I have been a Vonage customer for about 2 years, I have currently 8 phone lines. I get about 300+ calls a day. It always logged all calls. If I miss a few calls, then I always looked them up on the call activity, now for the past few weeks I can't. Thanks for everyones response, but guys what the world be like if caller id on your cell phone, or at home didn't show missed calls? Is there anyone that used the ability to see missed calls in the call activity? Honestly when I asked this question, I didn't think this would turn into a debate on whether they were ever logged in the first place. I assumed everyone knew they had been logged. You all didn't ever log on from somewhere else and view the activity logs to see who called you over night?
I guess, could someone that remembers that the activity logs always showed missed calls, up until about 3 weeks ago or so join in? |

I have to agree with the others. Unless "something" picked up the call and established it (i.e Vonage voicmeail or personal answering machine even if the person hung up right when they heard the greeting), you will not see this on your call activity page.
However, this is different than caller-id and viewing that on a phone. A call does not need to be established because once the phone rings, the caller-id information is passed and logged (by the phone). You don't see missed calls to your cell phone on your cell bill (where you see the call activity).
Do you have any features on your lines that used to be there and are now removed as of the past 3 weeks? |

I have to agree with roboart, I have many missed calls that are displayed in my incoming call activity log. I also know for certain, that many of them that are listed did not leave a voicemail on the Vonage system either. It should be pretty easy to run a test to see what happens, I'll post back with the results. |

tglea, keep in mind the caller doesn't have to leave voicemail. Once a call gets routed to the voicemail system, the caller can hang up (pretty much once the greeting starts) and it will show. |

(an aside) Someone may wonder, what kind of a screwed up phone system do I have that doesn't show the caller Id at my office. Why would I be so interested in Call logs anyway? I use a Partner system that is a old version, probably 2001-2002. When a call comes into the system the phone number is displayed on my phone as long as I am talking, but when I hang up the call is no longer logged. It has been this way since I hooked it up to all my Vonage boxes. I always assumed it was because of the international caller ID format Vonage uses. Anyway this has nothing to do with the call logs. It just explains why I can't reliably use the caller ID on the phone. With 8 phone lines things get screwed up a lot anyway. I am a small business, so If I got a good customer that is going to pay good, I talk to him and let another line ring. Then I would call that guy back. Now with unanswered calls I got to jot it down while the call is ringing. I can't go back and look at the online call log anymore to see the call I just missed.
Anyway I have noticed the following things recently.
I have activated for the first time voice mail on a few of my lines.
I noticed that someone at Vonage changed the Call log page to make it so you must select a phone number. It doesn't display all the log from all lines at the same time anymore. Actually I kind of liked to look over all the lines at the same time so I go to detailed call activity page and use that page to view the call activity on all of the lines.
I started noticing that no missed calls were being displayed around this time.
Vonage got back to me today and had me run experiments on all my lines. None of the lines showed a missed call. I submitted the results to them with the times and numbers, and screenshots of the logs. And they said they will pass it to a engineer to look at. I will post the results.
Does anyone else besides me and tglea remember seeing them? |

Calls will not display in your call log unless the call completes (ie answered, either by being picked up, going to voicemail, or forwarding to another number where it is answered). The call is not rated if it is unanswered. No rating, no listing in the call log.
What Partner system do you have? If it is an ACS you can enable a Caller ID log if it is R4 or higher (I believe that is the version it was introduced in), the catch is that you can only have two phones designated to access the log. But its a possibility there. |
