Hi, this is not correct. this is not how the call log functioned until a few weeks ago. It has always shown missed calls. Well at least mine has. Maybe the confusion is that most people would have a voicemail or answering machine on their line. Maybe not a lot of people just let the line ring freely. But believe me guys a freely ringiing unanswered call always showed up in the call logs. it has for at least a few years, ever since I have used Vonage.
(an aside) One day I probably will upgrade my partner system. But yes I got the log buttons programmed and everything. |

Not sure what I was thinking when I wrote about being charged for incoming call, we all know that incoming calls are free.
I have never seen on my call activity log of an unanswered call, then again I usually just look at my call display on the phone. |

I got a guy that calls me all the time, he is bored. I don't know if every one has these types of folks. Kind of like a guy that might call the operator just to chat. Anyway, sometimes I don't answer his calls, because I might be busy with paperwork or something. This guy is relentless. He will call 5 times in a row if he don't get ahold of someone. Anyway I did a search of my logs last year. And the patterns of his number appearing are consistant with unanswered calls being logged. You can clearly see where he calls five times in a row and no one answers, but it is logged. I just wanted to double check and make sure I wasn't losing my mind. |

Perhaps just get a phone with caller ID. That way you can go thru the caller ID history to see who's called, even if they didn't leave a message (or you don't have vmail turned on). |

I was just going to suggest the same thing. The only issue is that with 8 lines, you'd have to have a pretty substantial phone. I know I see calls I haven't answered on the incoming call log, but I assume most of them have been picked up by voicemail.
As a business with 8 lines, I'd sure suggest an upgrade to a digital phone system that could show caller ID info on each phone. I work at an office of a small business with only 5 incoming lines, but yet we have a Panasonic KX-TDA phone system which displays caller ID info on each desk. Sure a handy thing, and also includes a call log for each user.
We haven't switched to Voip yet because of lack of high speed internet availability at our office, but when I can afford to put in a T1 or something else and make the jump, I sure am going to.
Good luck with the dilemma. Sorry I don't have any answers, other than check E-Bay for a good deal on a new system!! |

If you have eight phone lines, it may be worthwhile to invest a caller id-only box, like those available from callerid.com, and get software that you can manage all the incoming calls with. I actually have the two-line version of this box (also available in eight-line versions, and daisy-chainable to 96 lines). I use a small program called YAC and wrote a custom script in Girder (www.promixis.com). Girder listens to the caller ID box, and when a call is coming in, it pushes out a little message via YAC to all our PC's (shows up as a small window near the system tray). CallerID.com of course sells custom software that lets you track all your calls. |

I haven't had time to run a test so I have nothing to report. I know I have missed calls in my call log but I can't say for certain whether the voicemail picked up before the caller hung up. That would be the thing to try. Have someone call and hang up when the voicemail picks up, without leaving one. Then have them call back and only let the phone ring a couple times and hang up before the voicemail picks up. See what shows up in your call log. |
