Hi everyone. I've been a Vonage customer for a few months now and I'm enjoying the service for my small business. However, my sister is also looking into a VoiP plan for her home, so I'm shopping around to see how voips compare as far as features, pricing, etc. I'm looking into sunrocket, etc, all the norms, but perhaps you have other suggestions. Part of me wants to just recommend Vonage, but I don't really know enough about the residential plans to comment. Has anyone used a service other than Vonage? Thanks! |

I wouldn't recommend Sunrocket - they went out of business last year! |

Business and residential work the same. Difference is business plan does not offer an unlimited, and business has a fax line included.
If you like Vonage, then explain that to her.
If you go to the Vonage website, there is an explaination of what is offered under the residence plan. |

Depends on what you need -- I mean what she needs. I have Vonage for over a year now and mostly they have treated me well. Refused to change my billing date when I called C/S and can otherwise be intractable but the equipment has been working well.
I have a main line and fax line with Vonage and was thinking about adding an extra line for backup and for calling internationally. Lingo has a nice looking plan and the price is right. Their C/S can be English challenged if you call in, and if you email they are backed up and you need to wait a couple days for a reply. This probably means they are on the rise and getting more business and therefore probably growing in ability to deliver good service down the line.
One other drawback they seem to have is they only support one device at this time and said device sounds a bit fussy about where you put it in your configuration. I plan to try them out but not sure at this point if they are a winner. |

Thanks for these comments. Didn't realize res and bus were so closely related, I am probably in a better place to inform her decision than I thought. |
