comcast will be shutting down traditional phone service in my area on april 29, therefore I will have to choose a new phone service. I am interested in learning a few things about Vonage. Verizon says it's Voip ser can only be connected to one phone, which ****. I have read that Vonage can be connected to more than one phone. Is this correct? I believe I read that you just need to disconnect yourself from the traditional phone line at the box outside the house. But my setup at the box is not like the photos in the wiring sticky. I just want to be sure that I can use Vonage on more than one phone and I'm also concerned about 911 calls.

Yes you can feed Vonage throughout your home, as well as use multiple phones. I'm sure you can with Verizon as well. The joker you talked to probably doesn't know the first thing about the product he sells/supports. But I guess that seems to be the problem with customer service in general these days. You are right, make sure you disconnect the Pots line outside before hooking up Vonage. You could take a picture of your wiring set up and provide the URL link here so you can get more specific help with your wiring.

Actually, it just has one blue and one white line intertwined, but it is not connected to the box by a phone plug or equivalent. It looks as if the lines are fed into a black port that just flips up about 30% open. It looks almost like an audio speaker connection where it grabs the wire. I opened up the other empty ports, but they only open about 30% and snap closed. I hope I explained that correctly. Also, this may be a dumb question, but where can I do the speed test?? And, will Vonage work with verizon Fios?

How old or new is your house? That can really make a difference in wiring. Who did you have before comcast. Is there a coax cable connected in the same box as well? I'm sure it is those wires that you see although a picture would help.

The house was built in 1970. I had verizon phone ser when I first moved in about six years ago, but I immediately switched to comcast phone to get the discount bundle with the cable high speed internet ser. I do have coax in the box, which I assume is for the cable internet connection. I do not have cable tv. I have used Directv for years. I know this sounds silly, I can take a digital pic of the setup, but how do I send it to the forum?

Sounds to me like your coax is bringing your phone service as well. Do you have a wire coming out of the comcast box and travelling to the original Verizon box on the side of your house as well? I know that was pretty standard installation when cable companies started to offer phone service. Just to run a jumper between their box and the old telephone box on the side of the house. I'm not sure if you can post a picture here. Although I should since I've used this forum enough. Lol You could upload the photo somewhere and post a link into the forum. Hopefully someone else can give instructions for posting pictures here. If it's possible.

Somewhere in your house is a telephone interface box. Once you locate this box, the rest of your hook problems will become no problems at all. Run a cat5 wire from your Vonage device to the telephone interface box. Connect the wire from your Vonage device to the "feed" of the telephone interface box. Every phone jack in the house will be charged after making these connection

In the house?? I believe it comes in where the electricing circuit breakers are. But I thought that I would be "disabling" the cat5 wire from the box outside?
