Hey all,

I am having problems with my service, I noticed last week my calls started fading in and out and calls starting dropping off. I have the original pap2 adapter hooked up to a Linksys WRT546 router. My service is Comcast over course. Is there anything I can do? I did rebooted my router, cable and pap2 adapter but nothing has changed. I always tend to trouble shoot these problems before I post here in the forums. As you can see I haven't post here in a while which means I have had solid service with Vonage up until last week when my calls started falling off and fading in and out. I did two speed test to check to see if they come out consistantly and here are my result

Your test results reflect a solid internet connection so I would look at your PAP2 as the cause of the issues you're currently having. Contact Vonage tech support and explain to them the issue you're having with the device. They should be able to do some diagnostic testing on your device to determine if it's time to replace the device which I highly suspect.

Ok is there anything else I can do on my end before calling such as downgradeing firmware or opening ports on the router?

What happens when you plug the PAP2 directly into the cable modem?

I hooked the pap2 directly to my modem and didn't seem to have any problems, I made 15 min call without any interruptions. So maybe there could be some problems within the router. I think I may have bad port on the router because I swapped ports on the router with my pap2 and my pc. My pc lost connection on the same port the pap2 was having problems on.

Here is an update, I am experience the same problems but only through the router even though I swapped port. Are there any ports on the router I can open that may help me. I have wrt54g version 2 linksys router.

You can try puting the Vonage adapter in the DMZ. You need to log into your router to do that. Although, it sounds like your router is crapping out on you.

Are there cordless phones involved in this mix? 2.4 GHz cordless phones and wireless routers don't play nicely together.

Why would a cordless phone be the problem if my phone is connected directly to the router via pap2.
