multiple people in different states have been calling me (New Jersey-Bergen County)for the last 4 days and I do hear the phone ring but the call drops for them before I pick it up (no registration on our caller-id and no incoming registration on my Vonage account). So absolutely no incoming service for me (outgoing is fine).

My Vonage router is the original Cisco ATA 186 behind a Verizon FIOS --speed test 9314kbsdown/3992kbsup MI424WR router-- no configuration changes on my side - working ok for a year like this.

Would have expected if it is a problem with Vonage service --- as reported back ~ Dec 17 2007 with many people claiming the same symptoms, that I would not be the only one reporting this problem now.

With your rock solid internet service and the fact that nobody else is reporting the same issues, I would suspect your adapter is flaking out on you. It is rather old and they don't last forever. I would call tech support and see if they can help. You could possibly get a new device free of charge from Vonage by calling as well. It may take some work and threatening to cancel but I'm guessing you are a longstanding customer so that should help. Alternatively, you could go to a local store and pick up a D-link VTA or Linksys PAP2 and add it to your account and then switch your number to it. If it doesn't work(but I suspect it will), you can return the device. Those are my thoughts. Good Luck!

I also had this issue several weeks ago. I knew that the PAP2 was going bad, but could not prove it. Finally, after over an hour on the phone with technical support, the PAP2 died. Then came the half hour to prove to the engineer that the unit died and it was not my electrical outlet. What a nightmare. After all this, I was directed to go to the store and purchase a new Vonage Router. Mine was over a year old. I communicated my dissatisfaction and was given a $40 credit no my next months bill.

All and all, I spent over two hours on the phone, trips to three different stores to find a router, and $10 (not covered by the credit). My recommendation - just buy a new one.

If you want, you can cancel the account and get a free new router. When the new acct has been created, ask to change the number they gave you to your old number. You will only need to pay for the shipping as the sales people can waive activation fee. Be sure to select a new router and not the refurbished one. Oh BTW, the new router will only cost you $10 + shipping. Your choice. Make sure also that youre acct is more thn 1 year so that no disconnect fees will be charged to you.
