I have a question. My voicemail light works fine on my adaptor but would like to know if any regular cordless phone lights will work when a message is left on my Vonage service. I do not want to use the answering system with my cordless and would like to use the Vonage mail but I miss the lights on my handsets. Anyone have any ideas?

I was in the same situation....so I upgraded my phone system.

Vonage DECT 6.0 Whole House solution

Can be found at circuit city,

compusa ( stores ) 40% off.... not on their website because they are closing many stores.

Mark, thanks for the response. I seen that advertised for $80 with a $100 rebate which seems like a great deal but do you know if you can qualify for the rebate if you are an existing customer. I think I read somewhere that the rebate is only good for new customers.

What I have found with my Uniden phones; the one with integrated answering machine in the base will not detect the "stutter tone", but is dedicated to only alerting you to a message left on the answering machine.

The phone without the integrated answering machine will alert you to a phone company voice mail (such as Vonage) by detecting the stutter tone.

That's a good question Very Happy because the circuit city rebate instructions just asked for your first months invoice.

( I guess if you've been a Vonage customer for many months....This could throw up a red flag Evil or Very Mad )

I just started using Vonage in Dec and bought the system last week.

The rebate instructions never went into detail about having to activate the adapter that comes in the kit ( I just used my existing adapter )

Since the rebate is mailed to circuit city and not Vonage....I went ahead and mailed it in....will see what happens Cool

I felt it is a great deal with or without the rebate.

For 3 phones/chargers and wall mount for the basestation....plus I now have and extra adapter just in case.

Thanks Marc! I too just signed up for Vonage this month. Maybe I will just buy it and try sending in the rebate. Like you said even without the rebate it is a good deal.

I have a GE digital 5.8mhz multi cordless phone system. If a message is left on Vonage, the main base light flashes showing a message. The other phones show message waiting on the Caller ID screen.

good luck with Rebates from Vonage and Circuit City, lots of horror stories on here.

I have a V-Tech multi handset phone system and on the base phone the light flashes when a voice mail is left.

I don't think you need to buy a special phone for this. If you don't want to mess with the wiring (which is a 5 minute job) you can buy a phone that plugs in the Vonage adapter and the remaining handsets just plug into any electrical adapter.

Thanks for the tips. I have a Panasonic 5.8 ghz cordless that has a built in answering system that i have disabled but my message light only works when a message is left on the base not through Vonage. Thanks again to everyone for their input.
