Still no luck - I'm currently running 2.7.5-0.1.1 and have had to reboot each of the last 2 days. |

Hi,
I also have firmware 2.7.5-0.1.1 and I have to manually renew the IP every 2~3 days.
The problem started when I decided to move my V-Portal directly behind my cable modem (Cable Modem->V-Portal->MN-700->LAN + WiFi). What I discovered so far is that every 2~3 days, the automatic IP renewal process seems to fail. At this point, the V-Portal loses the gateway address (which is normal in this situation) and the IP lease time is set to 25812 days. There is clearly some problem with the V-Portal renewal process.
When my MN-700 router is in front (Cable Modem->MN-700->LAN + WiFi + V-Portal), then everything works fine (and worked fine for about 4 years).
I wanted to have the V-Portal closer to the broadband adapter in order to optimize traffic for Vonage packets.
Anyone has additional information / observations about this problem? |

Well not sure about the DHCP Renew issue , but those of you who are rebooting every night should ask support if they can turn off the fault testing until they fix it. When I worked in support there were alot of things we could change if necessary so there is a good chance they can do this for you with this new device, the V-Portal. |

Hello all,
I am seeing a similar problem with my VPortal. It's important to note that I am seeing the box report error 11 (not 13) in my case. I've removed the RJ11 jack from the VPortal Line one jack and have tried measuring for line voltage -- there is nothing present.
I should add that I only recently changed to a VPortal. Last weekend my 2.5 year-old Linksys WRTP54G died and so I had to find a replacement (I opted for a new wireless router + VPortal).
My experiences are almost indentical as to what has been reported in earlier posts. If I have my RJ11 phone cable attached to the VPortal at power-on, I get the error immediately. If I instead wait for the box to fully boot and register with Vonage's servers, then plug in the RJ11 cable, I am fine for about 24 hours or so.
If it matters I have a phone, fax machine, and two TiVos connected to the phone line. Again, I know that's a large load, but this was never a problem with my old WRTP54G.
Any thoughts?
Thanks! |

The reason why the system is going offline at the same time everynight , is more than likely because one of the wires are connected to an alarm system which sends updates in that time frame over the analog lines.
An alarm system usually cuts all internal wiring off sometimes shorting the inside wiring of the home.
Other options are sat receivers but they are less frequent for updates. |

Hmm....now i'm wondering if the Tivo 'daily call' is tripping the error on the V-Portal. I'll unplug all my Tivo phone lines (don't work with Vonage anyway) and see how things run |

Just to clarify, I do not have an alarm system connected to my phone lines. Also, I've had the TiVos connected just fine to the Vonage line when I used the WRTP54G and there were no problems. In fact, I've manually triggered a "test" call from the TiVo and it completes without error over the VPortal. |

Update - the Tivos/DirecTv boxes appear to be the culprits. I unplugged all phone lines from these units and I haven't had a the V-Portal reset error in 2 weeks now (knock on wood) |

hey, i would connect one line at a time , per day and see if problem persists ( if it doen't untill you connect "line 3" for example thats where the problem lies .......if i had to take a wild guess id say the original phone line comming into the house is interfering somewhere along the line because if it is connected the phone company will send out pulses periodically ......if not that error message is making me think some device (i.e. corless phone, answering machine...something) is sending a pulse of electricity through your phone wiring causing the problem and giving you the error message . |

unfortunately it's definetly the V-portal. I work as a contractor and install them all the time. some units will display an error code and others will not. i've talked to many techs at the advanced tech support at vonage and to date there is no fix. if it were me I would swap out the ATA for another call up tech support for a mac swap, problem solved. |
