We're being absolutely FLOODED with these miserable, stinking political auto-dialer phone calls (probably because our primary is Tuesday). I'm getting upwards of 15-20 per day. I've gotten 2 in just the last 8 minutes. Many of them are coming in as "unknown caller" and show up in the Vonage web dashboard as "RESTRICTED".
I have Anon Call Rejection turned ON, but these calls are still getting through. I've even gone into the control panel, disabled it, saved the change, then re-enabled it, just in case a setting was "stuck" somewhere. Still, "unknown" and "RESTRICTED" calls get through.
Is ACR broken?

By the way, I hope others will join me in refusing to vote for any candidates who use pre-recorded auto-dialers. This is abuse of the phone network, an infringement of my privacy, and disruptive at all hours of the day. (as late as 9:20 p.m. at night last night, and starting at 8:50 a.m. today) The absolute worst has been Mit Romney (more than half are from his campaign) followed closely by John McCain. I'm a registered Republican, so maybe that's why I'm not getting any Clinton or Obama calls.... or maybe those candidates just aren't sinking that low.
Just say NO to candidates who abuse auto-dialers. They obviously care more about shoving their propoganda down your throat (by any means available) than respecting your time and privacy. If I want political crap, I'll watch the 11:00 news. Keep this crap OFF MY PHONE!!!!!!

This is taken from the Vonage website:
Types of Calls Blocked by Anonymous Call Block Once this feature is activated, calls will be blocked if the Caller ID information reads:
Anonymous PRIVATE (private followed by 8 spaces) PRIVATE PRIVATE NUMBER PRIVATE NAME NUMBER,PRIVATE CALLER PRIVATE WITHHELD
I guess "unknown" and "restricted" aren't blocked. That s#cks for you. F%CKING POLITICIANS!!!! |

Yeah, I saw that on the website. I assumed that calls showing up in the dashboard as from "RESTRICTED" would be considered anonymous, since that word implies the caller identification information was intentionally withheld.
Guess I was wrong. Grrrrrrrrrr.
I wish Vonage would get its schnitt together and offer selective call blocking. There is also apparently a local auto-dialer mill running with callerID "813-000-0000" because I've gotten a bunch of calls from that number as well. I REALLY want to block that number!!!!! |
