Thanks for all the help. I ended up purchasing the whole package from Circuit City, it was an extra 10% off. So far I have been surprised at how well it works. I do have a new question though.
Can I run a regular pots line and a Vonage over the same cat5 cable on different pairs? Since I have not yet disconnected the regular phone line, and want to spread the Vonage line througout the house I was wondering if I can just another pair on the same cable for it, or does that cause some sort of issue? |

I've never tried it but yeah it would work. No different then having two lines on your POTS. Blue/blue white for line 1 and Orange/orange white for line 2. Be sure you really know what you are doing though. You don't want to mess it up and end up feeding the voltage of your POTS to the Vonage adapter because you will probably fry it. Also, unless you have two line phones you won't be able to use both at each jack. You will have to wire some for Vonage and others for POTS. If you have more questions, it would be best to start another post. Good Luck! |

Noooo. However you can use the whole house system. But before you do anything, disconnect the house system from the phone company at the network interface, Then split line going into the new phone system and connect it to the house wiring you just unplugged from the network interface. It should work. |

Well, your post defeats the whole idea of what he is trying to do. He wants to have POTS and Vonage in the same house. Your information is good if he didn't still have POTS and simply wanted to distribute Vonage throughout the whole house. Also, there is no reason he can't use 2 different pairs of wires to distribute 2 different signals. One pair for POTS and another for Vonage. Like I said though, be careful not to cross the two lines somewhere. |
