I have two reasons for believing this. The router log files look all too much like iptables log output. Also, the qos settings match up perfectly to a generic linux-kernel qos setup. Due to these things I heavily suspect the D-link VWR is using modified GPL software running on a linux kernel. This router was developed around the same time as the numerous D-link devices that were found to be in GPL violation a few years back in German courts. D-link has published the modified source code for these devices since the court case, but have not published the source for the VWR.
I was a Vonage customer up until 1.5 years ago. While a customer I repeatedly contacted both Vonage and D-link by phone. Managers scoffed at my request for source code and at giving me contact information for someone that was aware of such "source code".
I do not have the ability to do any analysis of the firmware so I cannot be sure of this. Still, I do believe this device is in GPL violation and that Vonage is VERY complicit in these actions. Remember, Vonage handles the firmware for these devices, their engineers know what licenses the code they are working on falls under. If Vonage wants to continue to play the fool about this issue they should at least obscure the log file output. |

So get in the very long line and sue them like everyone else. |

Sounds like a D-Link does not think there is a problem . . . and Vonage does not think there is a problem, so probably, no problem. |

I went there and found the file VWR-VR.ZIP. Could this be the infamous source code? It was 49 Mb so I didn't bother downloading it. Perhaps synnixx could investigate??? |
