Post subject: Vontage Voip Wireless Router VWR & Vista Ultimate Questi
To All:
I have a VWR router with Build VWR-11.4.0-r060331-1.00.03-r061127.img and my new Vista machine, I'm trying to use one of my eithernet ports from the router with a working and tested eithernet cable to my Vista machine. For some reason the router will not assign and address to the Vista machine. I know for a fact that when I'm at work I have no problems receiving an ip address from my DHCP server. This is crazy is there something that I need to do with my Router I've looked everywhere for this solution. If this is the incorrect place to ask this question can someone direct me to the correct place.
Thank you
Joel

How to fix
goto Start > Network
click Network & Sharing centre
on the left click manage network connections
right click your network card and goto properties
double click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IPv4)
on the top radio bar select use the following IP address
then in the top box enter
192.168.15.45
hit tab, the subnet should set itself to 255.255.255.0
leave this as it is. In the 2 boxs below, enter DNS1 as
4.2.2.2
and DNS2 as 4.2.2.3
click ok, then click ok on the next screen.
within 30 seconds your internet connection will then work fine.

im not exactly sure if you still need help as your post had been way back january but the problem you described is actually a known problem with VWR and vista.
here's what you need to do:
- disable the ipv6 and leave ipv4
- set static ip on your vista (192.168.15.10) and fill out the rest of the information as you would normally would
note: ip address should start with xxx.xxx.xx.10
- restart pc, and that should start working fine
