It is the DMZ setting that is breaking the inbound audio. This morning I remembered why I had the D-Link in the DMZ of the VT2442 - it was because several apps that I use require port-forwarding. Those ports are already forwarded on the D-Link.
When I once again enabled DMZ, the inbound audio failed. Then after disabling it, the audio was OK.
I'm wondering if there has been a change to the ATA firmware or a software change in the Vonage system that has created this problem. The current firmware on my VT2442 is: 11.4.1-r070201-1.3.2 -r1
Edit: Firmware is the same as recorded in June 2007. |

I rebooted my regular router and that seemed to fix it. |

Disabling the DMZ worked for me as well. Even though I've been running this way for months--ever since I started using the Motorola VT2142. Does anyone have any idea why this would have suddenly broken? |

Hi, I have the same firmware version on my VT2142.
I was wondering if maybe Vonage slipped a firmware update out without telling anybody and some of us have had this issue....just a guess on my part...
I have my Vonage box between my cable modem and router. It may not be the preferred method...but it has worked here fine with no apparent performance hits for the router connected pc's.

Since enabling DMZ broke the VT2442, I had to forward the same ports on it as my D-Link. This worked, however I didn't think this was the optimum configuration.
I reconfigured my setup, now placing the VT2442 behind the D-Link:
SB5100 modem ----->D-Link Router ----->VT2442
In the past, I had problems with transmitted audio breaking-up using this setup, but it seems to be working OK for now. |

I have been having the same issue with my Pap2 since Saturday. I can receive incoming calls but outgoing calls do not go through. I hear one ring on my side and that is it. I do not know how to log into the pap2. The is no reset button on the device. |
