I'm searching for ways to cut expenses at my business and was hoping someone out there might have some input as to how they like their Vonage business lines. Can you please let me know how you like it and if you've had any trouble with it? Has there been a significant savings for you since going with them?
Any help at all will be appreciated!
Thanks! RF |

I am very happy with my business service. If faxes are important to you, it might be better to stay with a POTS line. I have a 95% success rate with faxes and the ones that don't go through are just not worth worrying about for me. I use a TELUS branded phone and ironically its features work better with Vonage than they ever did with TELUS. I didn't realize how much the cost of LD restrained me from making calls but now I don't have to worry about it. |

My home-office has 5 business and 2 residence lines with Vonage (it's been about six months). I save about $75/month over what I used to pay Verizon for the same configuration. I place about 300 business calls per day, most of them one or two minute data calls, using 1200 bps async modems. These are mostly intraLATA toll calls. My hardware configuration consists of 4 VT2142 devices connected through a 24-port switched hub to a Linksys WRT54GS router, which is connected to a modem supplied by Cablevision. On the analog side of the VT2142 devices, we have a Panasonic analog PBX which supports a bunch of modems and telephone sets.
The voice quality is always acceptable, and often better than it was with Verizon POTS lines. (We are about six miles from the Verizon CO, had loaded loops for a while, and more recently, SLC service to the neighborhood.)
The data quality is not quite as good as it was with Verizon. For these calls, the error rate is a little higher than it was when we used Verizon POTS over SLC, and similar to what it used to be when they were using loaded copper. My equipment usually has to retry a few of the 300 calls it places due to excessive garbled transfers. For my application, that error rate is acceptable, and worth the savings. |
