When I signed up for Vonage, My number was listed as transferable. Now I am
attempting to transfer the number, it is listed as NOT transferable. The Vonage support line was of no assistance. He thinks (but doesn't know) they ran out of numbers in my area and numbers might become available in the future. I am hoping this group can help me.
Is this temporary or permanent?
If temporary, How often should I check the site for availability?
Typically how long before numbers become available?
Thank you

I've seen some similar posts but can't find them now. In short, you aren't the first person it's happened to. One thing I find weird is, if you're porting in your number, why does vonage need another available number in your area code? the only thing I can think of is to assign you a temporary virtual number to use while your port is in progress. but if you're already signed up, they've probably given that to you. perhaps it's some telco or clec deal where the company that receives a number from a number port must also have available and offer numbers in the same area code for new users...? not real sure there. |
