OK, I assumed you had set it up for PPPOE, per your first post.

If it is "out of the box", new, it is already set up for DHCP.

When you plug it in, the green power light flashes, does it go solid or blinks (it takes a a couple of minutes).

If it continues to blink what is the pattern, 1 blink, 2 blinks, etc.

yeah i did try pppoe at first but now i could not go to that web page anymore. i dont know if it has a pattern for blinking it just blinks and would not stop i assumed it was just because it's starting up but then again after over more than a hundred seconds no i think hundred minutes Sad it still blinks!!!

also when i tried the phone, i has a recording which says Vonage has no network settings

connect your computer to the VT2142, type in your web broweser http://192.168.15.1

Input your sign on and password "router" for both

You should see the HOME page for the router.

Click the set up tab

Click the WAN configuration on the left

The drop down box at the top probably says PPPOE

Change iit to DHCP

Leave everything else alone

Click Save at the bottom

There is a reset button on the back of the router, next to the power port. Press and hold for 5 seconds, this should put it back to factory defaults

My light on my VT2142-VD keeps blinking. I have called the hotline and tried to talk with the foreign speaking agent who I could barely understand. I recently changed computers and since the change, my internet works from my modem but the Vonage device just will not work. The light keeps blinking and it makes a weird sound every minute or so. Followed information from booklet and hotline info to setup device and reset (Button on back) with no results. Been with out phone service going on a month now, had to set up another line with local service due to the repeated tries to fix this. Like the Vonage service, but right now we are just frustrated. Can this device be defective?
