My three year old Linksys PAP2 is dead. Tech support suggested that I get a new Vonage phone adapter from a retail store.
I went to Staples & Radio Shack (near Boston, MA) and was surprised that they no longer carry any Vonage phone adapter. I was told by a staff at Staples that because of a legal dispute, all Vonage phone adapters are off the shelves. I also went on BestBuy & CircuitCity website; Linksys PAP2 are all "sold out" at BestBuy and cannot be found at CircuitCity.
Anyone knows what is going on? |

I bought a PAP2 at our local Walmart a few weeks ago. They were locked in a glass case with the computer stuff in the electronics department. You might want to ask one of the clerks. |

What is absolutely ridiculous though, is that Vonage basically refuses to sell you a phone adapter. They always tell people to go to a local retail store. It's dumb that the company that provides the service won't sell replacement adapters to customers. As far as I know, the Motorola VT2442 is only available from Vonage and that is the adapter I would want if mine takes a dump. |

I had followed the link. I had gone to the stores. They do not carry any of the above phone adapters in Boston. |

Agreed. What's really amazing, to me, is that they do this after setting themselves up as suppliers of a number of different adapters, adapter/routers, VoIP phones, and so forth. To me, this increases the technical support issues that they have to handle. Since tech support is their weakness, it adversely impacts their basic mission. Since they've decided to go this route, you would think that they'd be eager to sell their equipment to all comers, new and old. |

****!?! I've been a vonage user since 2002 (early adopter) I've had 4 different routers / ATA's (Cisco, Motorola, two different LinkSys) The fail, I call tech support, they replace (and have never charged me!)
Call 'em back. Ask to have support issue elevated to tier 2 / 3 support. You shouldn't have to pay to replace what (for the most of us) was a free device in the first place. |
