If you already have a router, then all you need is an adapter, like the PAP2 or the Dlink VTA. If you don't have a router, then you also need to get one, or you can use one of the combination Vonage router/adapters, like the VT2442. |

I see your problem. After checking around the internet a bit, I see it's described as a combination modem/router with one USB and one ethernet port. I couldn't find a downloadable user manual.
If you can use both the USB port and the ethernet port at the same time, you could use the USB for your computer and the ethernet for your phone adapter, but I've never heard of a modem with USB and ethernet ports that allows this. My guess is that the MT882 doesn't either, and you'll need a router or a combination router/phone adapter. |

The choice is a router from Vonage The setup must be modem (Ethernet port)>vonage router (Ethernet port) >pc. Betterdon't use USB port on modem. Leave it empty |

That depends on your needs. If you do a lot of heavy duty net surfing, gaming, downloading, and such, then a good, robust router is recommended, followed by a simple Vonage adapter. One of the routers of choice that you see mentioned frequently here is the Linksys WRT54GL. If also provides wireless if you need that. The simple adapter would be a Dlink VTA or a PAP2.
If your internet needs are less stringent, then a Vonage combo router adapter is the ticket. The VT2142 and VT2442 are examples. I have the VT2442 and it's fine for my needs. The new Vonage V-portal is another possibility, but it's just out and I haven't seen any user comments on it yet. Maybe that's good. |

Based on reports here (I have no first hand experience), it appears that BSNL captures the MAC address of your NIC (network interface card) when you first connect to it. In most people's case, that is your computer. It will reject anything else connected but a work around is to clone the MAC address of the PC to the Vonage router (fooling BSNL).
Please reference this and other threads:

I would also suggest contacting those who have posted from India who use BSNL and message them from this site. They can tell you first hand. |

Agreed. Beyond that, the VT1005 should work. It will provide phone service and one ethernet port for your computer. |
