Hi all,

I recently bought a linksys WRTP54G phone adaptor/wireless router in the U.S that I brought along with me to India (yeah yeah...same old story) and have had issues trying to setup the phone adaptor. I looked up tons of forums and got the internet (via BSNL DATAONE) working on the router, but am unable to get the phone adaptor working. Here's my problem:

I have a Huawei MT800 ADSL modem (which acts as a router as well apparently) Hence, my connection to the internet was obtained by connecting an ethernet cable from the ethernet port of the ADSL modem to one of the LAN ports of the router (NOT THE WAN port - that might be a partial problem to not get the phone line working). I was able to configure the PPPoE connections on the modem side as well as get DHCP running. I changed my router IP from 192.168.15.1 to 192.168.1.2 so that it is on the same LAN as the modem. I am now able to access the internet in a wired and wireless manner.

What now am I supposed to do to get my phone line working? The phone LED light is off always. I have tried to reset the details on the router page to access the internet in a PPPoE manner, but that is not of any luck.

Additionally if I click on the status tab on the router page , I always get this message saying "EWAN disconnected". I have a feeling I am unable to access the PPPoE server.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Look at option 3 in Nate Hoy's tutorial here: http://vonage.nmhoy.net/tworouters.html . Basically, you need to turn DHCP off in the WRTP54G and run an ethernet cable from one of the WRTP54G LAN ports to the WRTP54G WAN port.

Hi Steve,

Thanks a lot for the advice. I called the Vonage tech support folks and they told me to do exactly the same thing. I have it up and running now.

That's great. It's also the first time that I've heard that Vonage tech support recommends that solution.
