So does this phone set come with the " Vonage adapter " like were already using ?

Meaning if I were to buy this phone....I would remove / replace the adapter I'm using now ?

From what he wrote, I would guess that "someone" does sell such a handset - GE. Nobody sells it under the Vonage brand, since that is restricted to the base that registers with the Vonage SIP service.

The box comes with a Dlink VTA Vonage adapter and also a 3 handset cordless phone system. They are separate. Unlike some of the other phone setups that have the Vonage adapter built into the phone, you have hook a standard RJ11 phone line between the VTA and the phone's base.

This phone IS branded from top to bottom with Vonage's logo (take a look at the links that yildirim74 posted, there are some pics of it). I know that Vonage does not physically make these phones, but they would have had to atleast license the logo to the manufacturer. Also, the point that I am trying to make is that whoever makes this 3 phone kit and advertises on the box that it is expandable to 4 handsets, I would think that they would also want to offer the 4th for sale (why let someone else make the money off of people who want to expand the set). Maybe GE handsets will work with this set, but none of the GE handsets look like these phones.

I'm just really suprised that Vonage would not even KNOW about this product when you contact customer services to even point you in the right direction.

Seeing how I am already a Vonage customer....I would assume that if I bought this phone system....I could just use my existing adapter instead of activating the one that comes in the kit ?

hi all,

i've been researching about this 3pack kit but i can't seem to find where to get the 4th phone so i may not be of much help to bobmccoy but just to address one of your concerns re the Vonage Cus svc & Tech guys, I believe most of them are only educated about the actual products offered on the Vonage site & on the old devices commonly used for the system. i know the dect 6.0 has been around for sometime but i guess since it isn't a common device, nobody really knows much about it. i heard someone got hold of a tech guy who knew about it, guess he's based in NJ

There is one other choice here that would likely work: Buy another complete set. This will give you an ATA as well as a base and 3 more handsets. Keep the one handset that you want and sell the others on e-bay (or just keep the other 2 as spares). You will also have a spare Vonage ATA in case yours breaks or if you want to take it somewhere else (you can activate it via the dashboard - which turns the existing one off - but if that's OK, then it could be useful for you).

I bought a Panasonic KX-TG1034S Dect phone system with 3 handsets at Amazon - works GREAT with Vonage - as you said, just plugged it in to the adapter. For example, its display indicates if there is new voicemail waiting. And extra handsets are available.

This system does include an answering machine, but I just don't use that feature.

howie, I've actually thought about it, and if there were a way to get the rebates on the other set I would probably do it (since the rebates make it free). I just can't justify putting 80 bucks into it for one more handset and I wasn't sure what kind of hassle I would get selling the other components on ebay.

For now, 3 handsets seem to be getting us by and I am also going to backfeed Vonage into our house wiring once we ditch Verizon so I will be able to use other standard phones throughout the house. But the phone system does offer some nice features like a shared phone book that I would like to be able to take advantage of as much as possible...

To answer my own question,

Yes the whole house system does come with a D-Link adapter....But note it is the plain bottom of the line adapter....meaning it is not a pass-through device ( NO router functions )....so the adapter that comes with this kit can only be install after your existing router....

BUT....if your already using Vonage....Just use whatever adapter your using now....no need to use the adapter that is included in the kit....

So far it's a nice phone system.

Note: it does come with a bracket so the base can be wall mounted ( this is not stated on the box.)

I should also state....the battery use in each of the phones is a common size/type....so you don't have to worry about buying replacements in the future.

I recently bought the Vonage DECT 6.0 Whole House solution and I must say that I am quite pleased with it. I read that in addition to the 3 headsets that it comes with that you can add an additional one for a total of 4.

I'd be interested to know where you read that. It seems to me that the Vonage DECT 6.0 does not offer an optional 4th handset. You might be thinking of the Vonage IP8100-2 made by VTech, which comes with 2 handsets and offers and optional third, model #IP811.

I have the IP8100-2, and recently replaced it with the new Vonage DECT 6.0 which I picked up at the CompUSA closeout for $47. What a steal.
