Hi All, I am looking to start using vonage for a small business I am setting up in a couple of months and am having a senior moment and cant find a diffinitive answer.
Am i right in saying that I can have an additional number to my BT number with Vonage. I will keep my BT Line & number but when I sign up for Vonage i can choose a different virtual number (in essence a seperate line into the house) via my broadband connection I just need a VOIP phone adapter and a seperate phone to plug into it.
Any other things I should know or be aware of, pitfalls etc you can pass on, then I would be more than greatful. |

Hello.
Yes Vonage is a VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) service. They simply provide you with a pre configured Telephone Adaptor (Which has routing functions in most cases), you plug it in to your Cable or ADSL modem via one of its RJ45 ports using the supplied Cat5/6 cable, and the Vonage device configures itself, then u have dial tone and can make calls as usual.
You will have the choice to choose a local area code or an area code from elsewhere in the UK.
You will keep your BT line as it is with the same number. The vonage number is totally separate as its on the vonage device, which you will need to also plug a phone into.
Wont rattle on anymore as its best to read up on it yourself once you have chosen the service you want. |
