I am trying to access my network camera remotely via the internet and can't seem to find the right configuration that allows this.

I have set up a fixed IP address for the camera and have set up Port Forwarding but no luck so far.

Also I have tried to log into the VT2542 with Remote Web Access set up to no avail.

Anybody have any experience with this configuration? Thanks /DaveB

PS: I see one reply requesting all kinds of information regarding my configuration. All I can say is if I knew the answers to all of these questions I problably wouldn't have a problem... What I need right now is someone to define exactly which menus to configure to enable remote access for the camera.

What configuration? How is it set up? Modem -> router -> PCs, Camera, Vonage? What ports are forwarded? And from where to where? Etc., etc. Need much more info.

read the manual and it is not all that clear. I am using a usb webcam and
Active Webcam. The system XPPro is set for static IP 192.168.15.2 and the application is setup for the cam for port 8080 and works great when viewing from 192.168.15.2:8080. Question is how do I config the VT2542 under the advanced selection for remote web access, remote SSL access and do I need to do anything under port forwarding so I cn come in from theinternet and access my road runner IP > the 192.168.15.2:8080. If so, anyone with How To directions on the VT2542 ? Confused

Set up port 8080 to forward to 192.168.15.2 (Advanced-Port Forwarding-User)

Your Roadrunner IP can be found looking at 192.168.15.1 (your Vonage router) on the HOME tab under WAN.

BTW, you will NOT be able to access the public Roadrunner IP from within your network, as most lower end routers do not provide loopback.

You will need to go offsite to check if it works.

Everything works fine now for port forwarding, but wht I am looking at now, is I have seen many users complaining of the VT2542 going bck to the factory default settings if and when we may lose electric, or the VT2542 is restarted. This has happen many times to me, and I must go back into the config and setup all the custome settings, and i tried to do an import the setting I saved, but that did not work.

So what do it take to get the new frimware update on this VT 2542 ? Current Software Versions Gateway 11.4.1-r070201-1.3.2 -r1
