So my outbound caller id shows my name to the people I call? Since Vonage doesn't submit this information to the database as my provider... there MUST be someway for me to get it in the CNAM database, right? |

Did you port your number in? It's either that or the people you are calling have your number saved and their caller-id will show your name when called. |

Sorry but - No as a user there is no why to add your name or anything else to the CNAM. With Vonage you are out of luck when it comes to outbound caller id with name. If that is an important feature for you then you should seek another provider. |

I read a message here with detailed instructions to hex edit the xsoftphone.exe file to add your name... line 5200 I think. I need to check, but he said it can't be done. I can find that message now... |

If you were to change it on the softphone, it would only work for Vonage to Vonage calls. Once you traverse out to the PSTN, it really won't matter. |

I didn't know that. Now I don't need the softphone anymore... will Vonage refund my activation fee? Do they have a money back guarantee on the softphone? |

That I do not know. I do hear outbound caller-id is in the works though, perhaps sometime first quarter. If you recently signed up for it and are not going to use it (within 30 days), I wouldn't see why you wouldn't get your money back. However, if you have been using it, not sure. |

Patrick,
Unfortunately we cannot help you. The "owners" of the numbers have full control of where names are stored for Caller ID purposes and the quality of the stored data. Only one database at a time can handle given numbers. Neither you nor Accudata "owns" your Vonage numbers (or your other carriers numbers) so we have no control of where they chose to store the data and it's accuracy. It is a shame that you are not getting better service. They should do it right. Sorry we couldn't help. Thanks for contacting us anyway.

I would really appreciate this feature, as so many would. In fact, they should make an effort with it, so you can have dynamic control over it. |

Oh, yeah! My first experience with Vonage as a new customer (I used them years ago for some time, when they first came out) was perfect. They promptly disconnected the softphone and gave me a full credit for it back to my account without any hesitation. I am sure they are going to be the best Voip provider out there. I have used Voicepulse for a few years, and they were awesome as well, but they do not allow you to check your voicemail from your phone, only online. I like that feature. I sure wish they would give my name out so the people I call can see that it is me and not have to figure it out based on the telephone number alone. |
