I purchased a Linksys PAP2 but I am unable to activate it online via www.vonage.com/activate, it tells me the MAC address is invalid.
I called Customer Service and was told they are unable to activate 3rd party Voip adapters. This is the first time I've heard this, any recourse? |

Is the device specified for use with Vonage? |

The same thing happened to me accept they were able to activate it.
It was bought for Vonage some time ago as a back up (now). |

It is an "unlocked" PAP2 and is able to be used on any Voip carrier. |

Vonage does not allow a user to bring his/her own device. Vonage issued devices are already part of their system and unless it is one of theirs, you will not be able to activate it. |

That's BS. I bought a PAP2 adaptor (v1) from Walmart in Buffalo and activated it in Canada on the network here on Thursday Jan 3rd 2008.
works fine -- they accept the linksys PAP2 adaptor without question and all they need is the MAC address to register it for use with your active Vonage account.
Call tech support and ask them to register it. |

Was that a Vonage branded PAP2? Then it can be registered.
What lsaulog has was not branded Vonage but was "unlocked" so that it could be used with other Voip service (but NOT Vonage). The MAC address is invalid because it is not Vonage branded. |

No it was not a Vonage branded Linksys PAP2 adapter. It mentions Vonage no where on the box or in the manual.
I had zero trouble getting them to register the MAC address to work with Vonage. |
