Just moved to a new apt. and only changed one piece of my setup.

I can have the following working combinations:

PC, Modem
PC, Modem, Router
PC, Modem, Vonage

When I have it all connected, however (PC, Modem, Router, Vonage), I eventually lose connection (internet and phone).

Never had this problem before and don't know where to begin.

Modem - Motorola SB5100
Router - Lynksys WRT54GS 4.0
Vonage - Motorola VT2142-VD

Router Settings
Automatic Configuration - DHCP
Host Name - Blank
Domain Name - Blank
MTU - Auto
Local IP Address - 192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0
DHCP Server - Enabled
Starting IP Address - 192.168.1.100
Maximum Number of DHCP Users - 50
Client Lease Time - 0 (1 day)
Static DNS 1 through 3 - 0.0.0.0 (not set)
WINS - 0.0.0.0 (not set)
DDNS Service - Disabled
MAC Address Clone - Disabled
Operating Mode - Gateway

Vonage Settings
Wan Configuration
Type - DHCP
NAT - Checked
Firewall - Checked
DHCP Settings
IP Address - 192.168.1.100
Mask - 255.255.255.0
Gateway - 192.168.1.1
Overide MAC - Unchecked
LAN Configuration
Subnet IP Address - 192.168.15.1
Netmask - 255.255.255.0
HostName - mygateway1
Domain - Motorola_VT
DHCP Server - Enabled
Start IP - 192.168.15.2
End IP - 192.168.15.254
Lease Time - 3600
Enable DHCP Relay - Unchecked
Server and Relay Off - Unchecked

Something tells me the issues lies somewhere in the settings above, but I don't know where or what.

Anyone have any suggestions? Do I need to provide any additional information?

You have both devices acting as DHCP servers. You need to disable one so that only one of the routers is providing DHCP.

Disable DHCP on the Vonage device and put the normal router directly connected to the Modem.

You should set it up like this.

Modem - Router - Vonage & PC

I'm guessing this is what is causing your problem, it could be something else, but this is my best guess based on what you have detailed.

If you can't get to the configuration page of the Vonage device, temporarily connect your PC directly to the Vonage router to make the changes.

Hopefully this is what is causing your problems.

well, clearly i have no idea what I'm doing.

I did what I thought was disabling dhcp on the Vonage device, and everything went down. Again.

So, since I'm obviously doing this wrong, how, exactly, does one disable DHCP for the Vonage device?

Thanks in advance!

I don't have one of these devices so I'm working from the manual, but I believe you need to do this.

Log in to the configuration page of the Vonage device and go to Setup and hten LAN Configuration.

Then you should select the Server and Relay Off option. This should turn off DHCP for you.

Once you have done this I would save the settings and then turn off everything and then turn it back on again.

Power them on in this order.

1. Modem
2. Router
3. Vonage
4. PC

Wait 30 seconds between each device.

Hopefully this will do the trick for you, I'm just not positive I have the setting right as the manual on this device isn't well written in my opinion.

It sems that your router has more ehternet ports than one. You can try the following:

.................................|- - - - -Vonage Device
Modem - - Router - - |
.................................| - - - - PC
