Hello Friends
i am facing problems in setting up the Vonage connection in india.I was successfully using the service in USA but it does no work here.I did set up the Vonage phone adapter(MOTOROLA VT2442) with the ISP(BSNL). The power light on the Vonage adapter remains green for some time and then turns red after a few minutes.
i get the message"unable to connect to the Vonage network". Can someone please help me regarding this problem, as i have to set up the adapter before i leave for US.
Your help will be appreciated

Hi mate
Thanks for the link mate, i tried doing everything stated on the link but was not successfull in setting up the connection.
If you can help.I did not understand the part where it was stated to do something with my Vonage router, how can i change it's settings? can i?
I have A Vonage adapter MOTOROLA VT2442 and my ISP is BSNll
I am unable to get any internet connection when i coneect in the following way ie modem--------->Vonage adapter-----------> computer
I read ur previous posts also and checked my DHCP settings of my BSNL modem and they were enabled , also i disconnected everything and made sure that the first thing my Vonage adapter sees is the BSNL modem but that also dioesn't help
ONE PECULIAR THING the power light on VT2442(vonage adapter) starts blinking RED after sometime and as soon as i disconnect it from the BSNL modem it again turns green.
I have to set up the connection for my parents, if you can help

I referenced he entire thread and probably should have copied miltonrod's last message with the step by step instructions.
Here they are - one note, do NOT use the MAC address he references, you will discover what MAC address that was automatically registered with BSNL when your parents first hooked up their PC, in step 1. What is happening is that BSNL wants to see the computer you first used, not the Vonage device, so it will not connect to the Vonage device. You have to "fool" BSNL into thinking the Vonage device is the PC, hence the cloning of the MAC address.
Lastly, step 5 is how you access the Vonage router's settings.
1.Note down the MAC ID of the PC START--> RUN---> CMD-----> IPCONFIG /ALL Note down the Physical address from the ethernet adapter local area connection eg: 00-0B-AA-EE-DD-88.
2.Enable DHCP on your computer and then connect BSNL---VONAGE---PC
3. Switch on the DSL Modem (BSNL)
4. Switch on the Vonage router (VT2142). (wait for 2-3 minutes)
5.In the web browser, type http://192.168.15.1 and press ENTER. In the Username and Password fields, type router and click Log In. The HOME page is displayed.
6. Click SETUP followed by WAN Configuration. From the Type drop-down list, choose PPPoE.
7.Type the Username and Password given by BSNL service.
8. Check OVERIDE MAC and type in the MAC id of your pc (physical address) replace - with : 00:0B:AA:EE:DD:88
9.Click SAVE and then Connect to start your Internet connection.
10. Open web browser and connect to some website.
Thats it once you clone your MAC id on Vonage you'll be through.
If this doesnt work then on step 6 dropdown menu choose STATIC and pulg in the IP, subnet mask DNS and click enable PPTP, add username and then add the MAC ID |

Also, keep in mind that while BSNL may not be interested in helping you to set up Vonage, they should be willing to help you set up a router. From their point of view, that's all the VT2442 is. Get the internet working through it and likely the phone service will as well. |
