ive talked to one of the reps at http://www.earthlink.net/wifi/ and he said its not possible to use Vonage with it, however i dont think thats correct so is it possible to use Vonage with it or not
Says the speeds are up to 1Mbps so not very fast. I would highly doubt that you would get those speeds on a speed test. Do you know anyone who has this that you can do a Voip speed test?
Is the Earthlink rep telling you that it won't work so you will go with their phone service or actually telling you the truth to save you time and the aggravation.
well now i can connect to the earthlink wifi, but it redirects me to their buy page, before one sunday it worked unrestricted and i did a speedtest it was about 1200kbps down with 600kbps or 700 up.
i still dont quite understand how earthlink wifi works, their suppose to give you some "wireless" router? how does Vonage work? what hardware do you get when you signup for Vonage
i asked if Vonage works with the wifi service he said Voip isnt supported with their wifi service
I had another look at the site and they are running a wireless internet connection. Your PC or laptop has to have a wireless card installed, it finds the connection and with a username and password you connect.
I don't know how you can connect your Vonage adapter to a wireless internet connection. Usually you have your cable modem or dsl modem connected to your Vonage adapter.
There should be away to connect a Vonage adapter to a wireless connection since most N/A hotels offer free wireless internet.
I have Verizon wifi and would tend to doubt that it would work for Vonage. In viewing the connection page (on their software installed on my laptop), it looks like an EKG. Not really discernable for web browsing or email, but would certainly hamper Voip.
