You can't use the Vonage soft phone program itself, but you can get another soft phone that works and put the Vonage SIP credentials into it.

You would need a version that works on Windows Mobile - both SJlabs (sjlabs.com) and counterpath (counterpath.com - formerly xten) have them. Their free versions only work on PC Windows, but they do have other versions that work on anything. I expect that you may be able to locate other options via google.

One thing to keep in mind with any of the HTC phones that you buy through a carrier in the USA - unless you are using a headset, you will find that the sound comes out of the "wrong" place - not the "phone" speaker, but rather the "PC" speaker on the back. OK if you are by yourself, but not so good out in public.

After reading up on the XDA forum, it looks like they've cycled something as of summer 2007. Have you found any recent Vonage SIP data?

Vonage SIP configs have not changed from old posts (one is included at http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic20747). There are plenty of others. The challenge is that you only get your SIP password if you have a soft phone account. You don't get one for a standard (main) account.

sphone.vopr.vonage.net:5601 is exactly the config that worked in April 07 and didn't in August 07. Is anyone actually still having success with with that config?

Here's the article at Microsoft that instructs one on how to setup Voip on a WM6 smartphone. It is most definitely USED to work, and most definitely doesn't now.

I am very likely incorrect Embarassed, but I haven't found anyone who can use a WM5 or WM6 smartphone for Vonage Voip AFTER August 07, but have found scores of people who have used it BEFORE April 07.

I have no doubt that it can and will get working eventually, unfortunately I haven't found anyone who has been successful in 2008. I'll keep at it and post if I can figure it out or find anyone who's had success.

Edit: In regards to SoftPhone... Yes, you definately need one to do this. Not for use with the line allocated to the main Vonage box.

The sphone.vopr.vonage.net still works fine in the F3000 as well as in a few other phones that I have tried. It is possible that there is something else in the WM client that you are using that is causing the trouble - not anything that changed at Vonage. Was there a new soft phone version around the time that things stopped working - or did something that once worked just stop?

Yes, it's quite possible that WM is the trouble. For WM there isn't really a "client" for say. It's built into the OS and is configured through an XML file. The XML files mentioned in the previously linked posts used to work for gobs of people then last summer they all started failing. So it appears to be something that was working, then with no change on the user end, one day just stopped working.

I'm afraid I came to this race late. I didn't get my WM phone until 2008. When I got it I had every intent of using it for Vonage, since I saw that many people where. When I tried and failed I looked a little closer and noticed that everybody seemed to start loosing connectivity last summer.

Don't quite know why.

Here's the config I'm using (obviously the account / pw are not my real ones, but my real ones fail too):

One thing that you could try is to sign up for one of the "free" services (like fwd, voicestick, freedigits, sipgate.co.uk, or anything else) and see if that registers and works. If so, then there is some incompatibility with Vonage. If not, then the client is the trouble.
