Well I just got an iPhone the other day and I am really impressed with most of its features.
One of the problems I discovered was that I could no longer use Simulring from the house phone to the iPhone. I get into the voicemail loop and the cellphone vmail picks up. On my razr they were able to disable voicemail for me but the tech guy says the iPhone works differently than normal phones and the vmail cannot be turned off essentially.
But yeah, if you need Simulring, the iPhone is not the phone for you! |

You can change your ring settings for Vonage. Make it shorter than the Iphone. For example if your Iphone rings for 25 seconds before VM picks up, then you would set the ring seconds for Vonage to 20. Now if your iphone is off or out of range that's a different story. |

I'll give that a try and see how it goes. My issues come from calling home from the cellphone and getting tossed directly to cell-vmail. Will post how it turns out! |

Oh I see what you mean. That seems to be hit or miss. I have a Verizon cell with Vm active. I'd say about 98% of the time I call my Vonage number Vonage from my cell Vonage cancels the Simiulring, the other 2% I get my cell VM. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to why it just seems to happen every now and then. |

just an update:
Still no luck disabling voicemail on the iPhone. They say (AT&T) that the 'visual voicemail' feature cannot be turned off selectively like basic voicemail can. Which basically **** because with Simulring on, I can't call home then.
So, what I did was got into the GrandCentral beta and setup a phone number to call my home. I use that from my iPhone now. I've been forced to disable Simulring and give out a new number. ....if we only had smartSimulring! |

I created an iphone app - i hated the simulring issues - the app allows u to toggle the simulring (and update the #), as well as view your voicemail details (working on converting the wavs to play on the iphone ).
Take a look at http://www.vonagent.com

Jailbreaking the phone is pretty easy - just follow the directions to a T and you won't have any problems - check out hackint0sh.com for steps - and enjoy! |

cool. I'd like to get this to work.
it will make my Vonage experience a ton better to integrate on the iPhone.
I am at 1.1.3 so i'll take a look and see what I can do. |

Oh - if you're at 1.1.3 - there might be a problem with your baseband already being updated. You'll have to check the postings about whether you can downgrade to 1.1.2 (and probably further first) and then upgrade (you can't upgrade to 1.1.3 using iTunes). Good luck! |
