Hi there...
I have a D-Link VWR and it keeps on going back to factory settings whenever it loses supply of power which is basically causing it to lose the security settings I saved on it. Has anyone come across this?
Thanks and Best Regards... Dany |

There was a long thread on VWR issues here: http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic17941.html . I didn't think that your issue was one of them, but a search on "power settings" gives a list that includes the above thread.
Retention of settings after power off is an issue with the VT2542, in case you were thinking of trying a different box. |

Here is what you do with the Dlink VWR router. Unplug it from your system, go to your front door, open your front door and heave that POS as far as you can throw it. Hopefully it reaches the street and an 18 wheeler runs over it. Then get yourself a new Linksys Pap2 V7 phone adapter and a Linksys WRT 54g with Speed Boost and you will live hapily ever after. I did. |

I feel so much better for having said it. If I can save one person from the heart ache of owning a Dlink VWR the rant was worth it. |

I have had a VWR since Sept 2006. I had the factory reset problem you describe. I made an astonishing discovery. When re-setting its options via its internal web server, I used IE6 instead of Firefox. After that, I have lost power but no factory reset has occurred. I think there is a quirk of IE6 javascript which is needed in the options setting process. Other than that, the VWR has been a great improvement in our wireless household. |

Thanks for all the replies. I am using IE6 while configuring, yet the problems still happens. I also tried it with accessing the VWR setup through the wireless and through a hardwire LAN connection and still had the same issue.
I am in the UK and could not find the Linksys offered through Vonage UK. If I order a linksys from the US, can I configure it myself in the UK if it was not bought through Vonage US?
Best Regards... |
