I signed up with Vonage as I am a bit techy and like the idea of Voip service. The service works fine and I've been using since August with no issues.

However, the business practices are unethical at best and push the limits of fraud. I was asked if I wanted free second equipment by the sales rep that signed me up. No charge, no fees, if my box dies down the road just activate the spare one from the closet. I didn't need it but it seemed straight up and he seemed insistent. I think he even asked "why wouldn't you want free spare equipment?" I end up receivng 4 total boxes. 3 are unopened in the closet as I assumed he just sent more spares. Seems wasteful on his part but he seemed eager to get himself a customer. Whatever. Well after my 2 free months and another month or two for the billing to come through and have my wife pour over the credit card charges it turns out that the sales guy signed me up for 4 accounts without my authorization. I only had authorized one phone number and one account. So much for free second equipment. The real problem started when I called account management. Not only will they not give me a credit for my few hundred bucks out of pocket for the monthly fees that I didn't authorize they are charing me over $90 per account for the 3 'extra' accounts to discontinue since I didn't do it within the first 30 days. They tell me there is no way to dispute this except through the credit card company. With the 2 free months of service I didn't even know these accounts existed until my credit card bill showed up after month 3. I'm out over $600 in fraudulant charges.

Anyone else had this type of problem? Account Management wasn't much help and I went up the chain as far as they would let me. Anyone have a way to contact someone inside the company that can help? I feel like I've been the horrible victim of an unethical sales rep trying to sign up more accounts and a very customer unfriendly policy.

Are you saying the charges and lines and everything isnt showing up on your Vonage Dashboard online as well????

This just showed up on your bill???

I hope that dont happen to me. That would wipe me out as I live check to check and use my bank card to pay this bill.

I wouldnt have gas to go to work even which would put me even deeper.

The first night I signed up, Vonage was down. It took my money, gave me a number, dialtone even and then nothing.Couldnt make or recieve calls. For 3 days it was like that.If you used the cell to call the number they gave me I was told the number didnt exist as dialed.I was thinking I got scammed into a bunch of trouble. I finally started to work and its been pretty good so far. A kind here member gave me a hand and things have been good since.

I am happy so far. You have me a touch worried now though....The first tech I spoke to I couldnt understand her, and she only told me that Vonage was upgrading their servers and to try my line in 24 hours. Then she persistantly tried to sell me International calling for $6.99 a month.I had to keep telling her over and over that I do not call out of the country and would sign up when I do.Thats my only complaint.

My dashboard only showed 1 account, one number, one history, one billing record, etc. Apparently I had 4 separate dash boards, 3 of which I didn't even know about. Never logged on, never used, never incoming or out going call, never an equipment hookup. Just 4 separate charges on my credit card bill.

go here and they will fix it:

(copied from another post i searched for here)

I went to to find the CEO. He is Corporate number is 732-528-2600 and fax is 732-834-0189. ceo's sec.
Called the corp number and of course they won't let me talk to the CEO. They got me to the Executive Response Team. Finally, someone open a ticket that would actually do something and she was willing to provide the phone number with extension.
