If you are considering purchasing the Dlink VWR wireless router DONT! I bought a new one to replace a Linksys router that took a lightning hit and it was the biggest mistake ever. It completely forgets your laptop settings every week or so and calling Vonage for tech support is fine if you dont work and have hours to let them troubleshoot it. I went back to the Linksys Pap2 V7 and a Linksys Wrt54G wireless router with Speed boost and couldnt be more happy. Not counting how happy I was when I dropped the Pos Dlink router into the garbage can. If Vonage tries to send you one to replace your current router tell them no thanks!
I personally think that Vonage would be better off and the customers would be happier if they used nothing but straight phone adapters, like the PAP2 ,and made sure that all customers knew that they needed a working router to use the service. If course, that wouldn't leave much for us to talk about here! <G>
I'm sure that things go smoothly for most customers, and when they do everyone's happy. The problem is when things aren't so smooth. By offering so many different types of equipment, Vonage ends up trying to do all kinds of network technical support, rather than being able to focus on their primary business- Voip phone. If they had a top flight technical support team, that might be all right, but ....
