1. Your location - Honavar India 2. Your ISP name and type - BSNL (ISP Name) & ADSL UT300R2U 3. Upload and download speeds - Connection speed is 256 kbps (not sure what my upload/download speeds are) 4. Modem make and model - UTSTARCOM UT300R2U 5. Type of Vonage adapter used - Motorola VT2142 6. Setup of Network - Bsnl modem---->Vonage Motorola VT2142 adapter---->PC 7. Issue you are experiencing - Power light on Vonage device is solid green. When i connect my phone on phone1 line i get a msg that this line is not authorised for use. but this worked well while i used it in US
Strange thing is the power LED is green.
Things I have changed so far. I have changed the PC to DHCP and the PPPoE on VT2142 has been set to DHCP with the ISP username and password. Tried all set of resets possible.. but still no luck |

It sounds as if you've set it up correctly. Are you able to access the internet with your computer plugged into the VT2142?
Keep in mind that while BSNL probably isn't interested in helping you with Vonage, they should be willing to help you to set up a router. Technically, that's what the VT2142 is. |

I'm not able to access internet through the Vonage router.
Do I need to change any settings on the BSNL modem?
Do I need to press the reset button on the Vonage modem to get its default settings?
Do I need to change any other settings besides using ISP username/password on the PPPoE settings on the WAN side of Vonage rtr?
CUrrent settings NAT and FIREWALL is checked, Keep alive is 0 mins, AUTO, MTU=1492 bytes and enforce MTU is CHECKED. |

OK, that's important.

Probably not. The important thing here is that you can't get to the internet. That means that either the router isn't successfully logging in to the system, or your computer isn't connecting with the router, or both. First, you've changed your computer to DHCP (Hopefully you wrote down the settings that you had before you did that.) That was the right thing to do to get the computer to talk to the VT2142 using the VT's default settings.
Since you've mentioned playing with the VT's settings, it sounds as if you can log on to the VT's admin page. Is that correct? Is it still correct now?
If you can, then the problem is not with the interface between your computer and the VT. Now work on the WAN settings for the VT. Make them just like the settings that you used to have on your computer.
One thing- some DSL modems "learn" the ID (MAC) number of the computer to which they first connect, and won't work with any other. That could be the case with yours. To overcome that, turn off your modem. Unplug it and let it sit for several hours. Then, when you bring it back up, have the router attached and unpowered. After the modem settles down, power up the router and let it be the first thing that the modem sees. Alternately, you can try cloning your computer's MAC in the VT. |

Steve,
I'm actually helping my parents to set this one remotely.
I think they checked a different light and told me it was green.
so the bottom line is the power LED on VT2142 is blinking once.
This is what we have done so far. Connection is MODEM(ISP)---->VOnage------>PC
Option 1 *PC has been changed to DHCP. *Changed PPPoE settings on the Vonage side to use ISP username/password *Turned on ISP modem then vonage..... then went again to WAN settings and try to click connect... it says connected * Cannot open any website on IE.
Option 2 *PC has been changed to DHCP. *under WAN settings on Vonage plugged in the static IP's taken frm the PC. enabled PPTP and pluged in the username/pw
Still the power led is Blinking once... I think we are not able to get tru the internet.
If we connect the ISP modem to the PC internet works fine.
Please help miltonrods |

Miltonrods,
Just to understand what your settings and status is:
Go to the HOME Tab, do you see that the WAN and LAN is connected as follows?
System Uptime: 102 hours 38 minutes Software Version: 11.4.1-r070201-1.3.2 -r1 WAN: Connected 75.xxx.xxx.xxx (note xxx's added by me to protect ip address) LAN: Connected
to the right of this do you see the following:
Provisioning Status: Provisioned
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number Line Status Phone 1: 15555551212 Idle Phone 2: N/A Idle
Under setup tab do you have the following setting in the WAN Connection menu item?
Type: DHCP Under setup tab do you have the following setting in the LAN menu item?
Enable DHCP Server
Under status tab, then connection status, do you have something like the following? Description Type IP State Online Disconnect Reason WAN dhcpc 75.xxx.xxx.xxx Connected 7hr 16min 45sec NA |

Always a tough thing to do.

I assume that you have to reset the PC to PPPoE and so forth to do that. Is that correct?
Power light blinking once indicates that you've turned it one, but it isn't yet to the point of trying to retrieve an IP, so clearly the thing isn't getting registered with BSNL. Did you do anything about my suggestion that the modem may "remember" your computer's MAC and is unwilling to work with any other? |

Ouch. No answers are bubbling up here. I guess I would try cloning the PC's MAC in the VT2142, just to drive a nail in that coffin. |
