About a month ago we signed up w/ Vonage. Its been extremely disappointing so far. The quality of nearly every call (both incoming and outgoing) has been less than awful. Either I am unable to hear the caller or they are unable to hear me. Perhaps I might catch one or two syllables, not much more than that. Have tried the "troubleshooting" things from the Vonage website and that hasn't changed the problems (and pretty much their troubleshooting says, "Make sure everything's plugged in") Even my cheapie little cell phone works better inside my house, than V does!
SO what are the tricks, if any, to getting this to work? ANY info is greatly appreciated! |

Post the information listed in the sticky message at the top of the forum. That is the best place to start. You have to give us some info to look at. |

The call quality is only as good as your internet connection. When I was having quality issues, my internet signal was poor because of a line problem coming into my house. Once that was fixed, my call quality is almost as good as my Verizon was (at less than half the price). Do a Voip speed test http://www.vonage-forum.com/voip-speed-test.html and post the results and someone will help explain those numbers. |

My internet connection is great, high speed DSL, no troubles there. Its just that nearly every phone call has such poor quality, can't hear caller and they can't hear me |

How do you have your equipment set up? Do you have the Vonage Router directly connected to your Cable Modem? That's the best way to set it up.
Are you using a 2.4 Ghz cordless phone? These are often affected by wireless routers and access points. |

The jitter of 13.7 is terrible. I would suspect that is most of your problem. What seems like a great internet connection for browsing can be terrible for Voip. However, if you don't want to give more information: All of the test results, equipment models and network set up, it's hard to help you much more. Good Luck. |

Copy and paste the ENTIRE results from the Voip speed test. There are more specs that could give reason for problem. Next, give us your setup - mine is - Cable modem->Vonage VT2142->Linksys WRT54G->PC Do you have cordless phones that you are using with Vonage? What range are they (2.4 Ghz by chance)? |
